Hi Scratchlight,
I watched the youtube video, and the poor kid seems lost at times, I'd be lost if I watched this too...
Before you reskin, you need the item from "
Content Manager", search for the item you want, then select "
edit item" under "
Edit" at the top of the screen, then go out of "
Content manager", go to "
Program files" in your computer, then go to "
Auran folder", then go to the folder called "
Editing", this is were you will find your item you want to reskin.
I began reskinning from here...
http://www.gaurc.us/files/info/ReskinningForDummies.pdf
The file above needs acrobat reader to view, acrobat reader is free and available online.
The file above mentions Irfanview, which I use, but most paint programs work the same, Paintshop Pro, Gimp and so on, the important bit is to clone the item before you reskin, Change the name of the item and change the kuid number by adding an extra number 1 at the end of the kuid number, this then prevents the origional item being lost or broken...
Here is an example about adding an extra 1 at the end of the kuid number...
Origional Trainz Name - FGW MK3 Coach
Origional Trainz kuid Number - Kuid 0123456789
Your Trainz Name - FGW MK3 Coach Neon
Your kuid number should look like this - Kuid 0123456789:1
Your kuid number will create two seperate peices of trainz item in your menu, the origional trainz item, and your new look reskinned item.
When you want to put your new item back into trainz, open "
Content Manager" again, then "
IMPORT" your items back into trainz, like you would do if you were to add new CDP files into your trainz, when finished importing, click on load trainz, this will then add your content into trainz and start trainz up for you, so you can view your new reskinned item.
Before posting to DLS ask here about getting your own kuid number, and permission before uploading to DLS...
Hope this helps
