Snow covered turntable

Hi

Does anyone know if there is a a turntable with snow on it on the DLS?

If not would anybody be willing to make one please I'm sure many would find a use for it.

Hello Ron, I've never seen one on the DLS with snow on it, I looked for one for the route I'm winterising currently, I've also scoured the European 3rd party sites as well, to no avail......
I had a sneaky suspicion that there was one around somewhere, but, it was probably narrow guage and I cannot locate it now anyway. :'(

It might be an idea to ask your question on the German and Poland threads and see if you get any results, a few of the well-known Czech, Hungarian and Romanian creators go on there also and might know of something for you.

While we are on the subject of snow::o

Anyone know of some really nice snowy tracks??
I checked out FMA's but they didn't really fit the bill sort to speak, at least for me and the route I am creating. Maybe its just me, I don't know.:p :hehe:

Any thoughts?
Buildings (urban or rural) would be really nice too. I have been downloading JVC's winter series so I am set for the grass and trees, just need those buildings now. Textures I'm kinda low on too, ideas on this would be appreciated also.

Thanks!

Cheers,
Adam

Sorry to hijack Ron's thread, but if you need some information about snowy assets Adam, then read on......

I think it's too obvious to say the DLS and search under the 2 keywords - snow and winter....:hehe:
You have the trees done by Jankvis, Dave Drake, Railcentre and Tafweb. You also have houses, factories, industrial units, stone walls and fences by Railcentre and tafweb all snow covered. If you search on CAB, Roger Cabo did some alps stuff, particularly, some spline telegraph poles snow covered.
Bob Sanders is currently creating some terraced housing also. However, these are more UK-style buildings and I'm unsure if these are of any use in a North American layout as such.
On the 3rd party website approach, there are a lot of links I have put on here from around Europe, for houses, stations, signal boxes, etc, etc. I also found some winter trees with no leaves on done by our lovely Trainzy friend Alberte and some other bits and pieces from Spain, though as they don't see much snow in real-life there isn't much call for snowy objects on Spanish routes.....:p
I don't remember seeing any other snow-covered railtracks apart from those you know of done by Vendel, he also created some snowy farm fields and other textures on the Painted Grace section at HO Trainz Hungary, worth checking out. There are lots of different tracks from the Czech and Polish creators, some are on a white ballasty type substance, so you could say it's snow, nobody will notice the difference.
Best to try our Eastern European trainzers, who have more snow than we do....I also found some apartment blocks and flats from a Russian site, but even though they aren't snow covered, they are white in appearance and may look good if you had them far away in the distance from the tracks on a layout. I found some superb splines depicting muddy, wet roads and tracks with puddles on, which are very suitable for farms, etc from Roltrainz in Hungary, he also did some great little bungalow type houses with snow on the doorstep, very nice models.....I also found some farm tractors from France which look quite good and Rox did a winter collection on the TrainzItalia site.
Have a search to see if anything takes your fancy, and don't forget that a lot of websites have links to other websites that I haven't searched on fully, so you might be lucky and find something I aint seen yet.....:hehe:

Good Luck.

Not that I mean to intrude too much reality into fantasy, but except for a short period right after a snow fall, there wouldn't be much snow either on the turntable, or in the pit, and what was there would, within a matter of a few hours, be quite dirty and unattractive. Any significant drifts in the pit would be shoveled out, as they would impede the movement of the table.

Wow.... !!! Well done Ex, that's a fantastic amount of info.

May I also say that if a snow route is downloaded and checked out then all the assets will come to light - or in this case white!

Snow Tracks

I was looking for some a while ago, all I knew of was the defaults seems everyone uses them. I had a couple of others that came with a route, config file says they were from HOTTrainz but I have problems finding stuff there since I only speak English so I couldn't see if there were others, maybe you might find them http://www.trainz.hu the titles started with HN# where # is the meter length they are set for (I have a HN4 and a HN2). I did find a nice looking set at IberTrainz, scroll down this page http://web.ibertrainz.eu/secciones/vias.html and you will see them. I think the sleepers are different from what I'm used to seeing at home not having a middle part and the rails are narrower than some track available, but they look good and I can use them for North American rails the width is fine and the narrower rails actually look good to, the two deep snow ones are good.

For a turntable, I don't know of any, you could ask a creator of a turntable you like if you could modify the textures of one to add snow, that's the only way I could see getting one.

WOW....

Ex, you have out done yourself. Thank you so much!
Now I have some creators, just look em up. This can help a lot of other creators look for some good quality stuff.:D

@Storknest
I will check them out. I really like the look the the IberTrainz ones.
I luckly understand Spanish enough to find them on the site and understand, without the pictures what I get.

Many thanks, now I'm off to download all my new goodies. :)

Cheers,
Adam
