Smooz's Blank DEM Routes for Trainz UTC!

l'm about ready to install Smooz's Blanks DEM routes for Trainz UTC in .cdp format. Three questions before I do! The routes are Fingerlakes West, Fingerlakes East and Fingerlakes South. Where will the layouts be found in Trainz UTC, Surveyor? Do these routes have to be merged together and resaved or do they run independantly? I'm in the process of downloading all the tiger data for the routes. Does that data show up in Surveyor?

Thanks, Guys!

Hi CT

I'm not familiar with those three routes, but maybe a bit of background on 'Blank DEM Routes':

The routes will be found in the normal Routes menu and load exactly like other routes.

The routes don't 'need' to be merged, though looking at the names i suspect they could be should you wish.

Blank DEM routes don't 'run'. There is nothing on them at all except some coloured lines to assist in accurate route building. The rest is up to you.

I very much doubt if you are actually downloading TIGER data, that will already be incorporated in the route. What I suspect you are downloading is the HOG texture set which is required to display the tiger data, which is those 'lines' that make route building easier. The textures will show up as normal ground textures in the Surveyor menus, but the colour range makes them pretty much unsuitable for 'normal' texture applications...

Cool! I did end downloading the Tiger data from the GIS website, it wasn't that big! I did install the HOG textures and
HOG too. I have Microdem set up as well! I know that blank routes don't run! I was more curious about wether or
not they needed joining! Your reply was a big help, and I'll be installing the routes tomorrow!

Thanks, Andy!
