Signalling

I need help on signaling for my route Blabla RR (weird name) but anyway my 2 test ai trains go on opposite direction than the Direction marker. the track is as follows

-----------------|->|----------------
|__a____________________b__|
-------------\_______/-------------
------------------|<-|----------------

you see how the A takes the mainline and B goes on the siding. But A takes the siding and B takes the mainline. How do i fix this?

Not quite sure I understand, but:

In the absence of specific instructions the Trainz AI will always take the shortest available route, so in your case the first train to start will grab the closest junction and set it to the Main (assuming the Main is the shorter route), leaving the siding - which is longer - to the second train.

Some possible fixes might be:

1. Change the drivers so that the train you want on the shorter route is higher up the driver list than the other guy. This will only work in a very simple session where all other thing are equal. You will probably have more luck with one of the following:

2. Use 'Direction Markers' if you always want Eastbounds to use the Main (or whatever).

3. Use 'Drive Via Trackmark' commands to force one train into the siding and the other onto the Main.

4. More complicated, use the rule 'Drive to first available trackmark' so that all trains will use the Main if it is available, but use the siding if another train has occupancy of the Main.

Priority Marks

I hit this problem in Bristol Temple Meads and it took me a while to get it sorted until I realised I was using the track Priority Markers (the Pink markers) in the wrong order.
Priority 1 will take any track while 3 only the tracks marked as 3.
So by setting sidings, loops and relief lines to Priority 1 and main lines to 3 I got perfect running.
Just remember to set the train's (consist) value to 3 also. This may mean you would need to change it if you want to run to sidings, although in practice I didn't find I had to do that.

Thanks I didn't thank about that( priority marker/ train priority)when i have AI trains taken the wrong track. I thought i was going to have to hirer a conductor to keep the AI driver awake.

Thanks Angelah for the first useful explanation of Track Priority that I've seen!

Is there any official documentation of the priority system anywhere? (I have searched for it in the forum and in the manuals) If not, I have some questions;
What does Priority 2 do?
How far along a track does a priority marker remain valid?
How do you save the priority for the consists? Mine seem to be reverting back to 2.

Thanks,
Mick Berg.
