Signal Thingy Invisable Placement

I have a long stretch of double track with crossovers at each end. I don't have any signals between the crossovers to avoid cornfield meets.

My issue is trains travel at half speed down this long stretch of track. I presume because they pass through a signal set to caution because of the signal set to red way down the line.

Could I place a "signal thingy invisible" right before the signal at the far end? I'm thinking in theory this would keep the initial signal at green and trains proceeding at full speed.

If by 'right before' you mean a couple of hundred yards, then your plan will do exactly what you require. The visible signal at the crossover will be 'Stop', the invisible will be at 'Caution' allowing a 'Green' back at the previous crossover...
