Sick And Tired

Legacy...it's called that for a reason...Fordota or neh...

 Planet Auran. So ahead of our time back in the year 2000, gave a working train simulator that did well on high priced low power computers!

Since the price of desktops declined, Auran took advantage of more sophisticated ways of doing things.

Don't forget that Auran paid Autodesk for a gmax gamepack that made assets that took our breath!

The game progressed, even to the point of including beta testers...still, no one is happy when service packs appear?

Hundreds+ folks have swarmed on the old content like ducks on a June bug & more is being done every day to get every possible asset on the DLS in working order for TS12!

That said, there are lots of tools available to do-it-yourself. Opening assets in Explorer, using PEVSoft tools, Content Creator Plus does the rest.

Jump in & get some of it done!

Content creators don't bend over backwards to make sure that every piece of content they make is compatible for all versions of Trainz. I know when I create content, along with my fellow group, it is created for the more current versions of Trainz, not the outdated and obsolete versions.

It's 2011, and if you're not on TS09 (or higher) by now, you need go find yourself a copy. On second though I'd just wait for TS12 to come out.

No idea about TS2009, but if it's anything like TS2010, that has "FAVORITES ONLY" checked on by default, I had to figure out how to UNcheck favorites to get all the routes and assets to show up.

I'm going to add a plug for Railworks here - anyone who is sick and tired of Trainz, I highly recommend uninstalling it, give all your Trainz disks to someone to hold for a couple of months, and buy Railworks. Give Railworks a really sincere try for two or three months, it will make you appreciate Trainz a lot more. :hehe:

Not to mention how much it will cost to add a few extra items of content...

Not really, only three look back - the other points whichever way feels more comfortable ;) :p
Steve :)
Thanks for the correction, was my error. Sometimes it's the little things that can make or break the function of the program, case in point. Even those that create for 2010 will in a day have their content show as errors when the program is changed again. When I was fighting to have my assets listed on the DLS, they went through many changes trying to keep up with their changing requirements. My assets will always be made for 2004 so everyone can use them. If this was a perfect world, would we even be a part of it?

Just having a random browse around the forums as it's been a few years since I was here. Thought I'd throw my oar in here and make a comment - I was with Trainz from pretty much day 1, and started creating content for it from day 7 (or thereabouts).

Steve :)

Hi Steve, good to see that you are back on here again:) and I think it balances things to see the perspective from the earliest beginnings of Trainz.

This illustrates the point that content creation now is very different to what it was at the start.
