Show your models!

Yea I think you are right, first time trying that kind of weathering, and I failed lol. Back to the drawing board I guess.

Better?

Finally building a layout!

@Jib, Numbers on that signal? Decals + Xacto Knife = Win. Just look for a sheet of decals that isn't too cluttered.

@JackieG
I don't think that weathering is too heavy.... Its an older boxcar. It would have been relegated to home Rails and used for something less then appetizing, or sold to a branchline anyway. I think it looks great. The Rust Streaks to me says "Branch Strikes". Maybe they used that car to reopen an old line? Depends I guess on what you're trying to model.

G'day everyone.

I went down to the model train club at Zillmere again on Saturday. They had found a shunting (switching) puzzle layout in the back of their storage container, as well as some of its associated rolling stock.

The layout is called 'Suggitt's Siding' and has not been seen in 25 years. It used to be a You-Drive layout at model train shows.

I have been given the task of restoring it ready for next year's Brisbane Model Train Show. It needs a bit of scenery applied (buffers, cars on the road, etc.), some trees need more foliage, and the fascia needs a coat of paint.

I was given the original instruction sheet for the layout and assigned the task of re-creating it on the computer. My efforts are below. What's your opinion on the sheet? Is it clear and readable?

I gave the puzzle a go with some numbered goods wagons (since the correct types are not all available) and it works very well - and is a ton of fun!

Kieran.

(Later on I'll have some photographs of the layout!)
