This is a basic reskin of my copy of Steve Lerro's Southern 4501 Ms-1 Mikado, TVRR version to match the locomotive as it appears in the film October Sky. The presence of 4501 in the movie gives me the impression that the Southern Railway briefly leased 4501 to the N&W in the late 1950's. Wonder what barred the crew from using 475, an N&W Class M. The N&W favored 4-8-0's over 2-8-2's for the former's better adhesive weight.

Personal project of mine. It is obvious to understand why this reskin is not worth releasing.

Early days

In 1865 the Central Pacific Railroad Company of California acquired three 2-6-0 Moguls from the Danforth Locomotive and Machine Co. of Paterson, NJ. #s 13 Hercules, 14 Oneonta, & 15 Washoe. They were the second set of moguls bought from Danford and were the last moguls purchased until 1900, the CPRR preferring ten-wheelers. When the Jupiter #60, of Golden Spike fame, arrived in California in 1868 she was accompanied by three identical sisters, #s 61 Storm, 62 Whirlwind, & 63 Leviathan built by the Schenectady Locomotive Works of Schenectady, NY. All these locomotives were brought around the Horn in sailing ships.

Did you happen to catch sight of my October Sky reskin of stevelerro's Southern 4501 payware?

I did, quite a nice job, I'm afraid I'm a bear of little talent comparatively. It will be many a moon before the CPRR locomotives will be complete. I doubt that I'll ever be willing to share them, assuming I could.

I wonder what kept the film crew from acquiring the more historically correct N&W M Class, 475 at Strasburg. Still nice to have a little artistic license; it could explained that the Southern leased 4501 to the N&W for some time.

Register your game

Trying my efforts getting mine fixed out, the register issue and all that crap has been going downhill. I might be long before I get back here. And plus....I'm getting a new laptop. So it's gonna pretty long coz Im gonna transfer all my trainz stuff and CDPs to the new one. For the time being, I'm sharing a few shots I had while I'm still trying to get this sorted out. Then again, have a pleasant day for everyone else.

Managed to get a pseudo C&O B-1 2-10-2 done as today, though I will not be showing it because I am not happy with how it came out, got some skewing issues with the tender that I couldn't sort out unless I straight up remapped it, which, since I am not the author I cannot do. I moved the lettering to somewhere where it wouldn't get skewed but it looks horribly out of place there, as well as it is still slightly skewed, so really I can't win there.

However, I did also finally finish skinning up a pseudo C&O observation car. This one here is more for my personal enjoyment and almost certainly will not see release, but I think it came out pretty darn nicely so I thought I would share it:

Blah, blah, blah...

@Southern1581 What a beautiful pair! Your C&O Atlantic and that gorgeous Observation Car are quite lovely. I'm very glad you said "almost certainly will not see release". Allow me to encourage you. :D (should she have three axle bogies?)

Thanks for sharing in any case.
