Show off your reskins!

Just dug this up:

Credit where credit is due, I only did the F7As and the GP7s in these shots. The F7B is by Timothetoolman and is on Trainz Forge. It would be the work of 5 minutes to make matching B-units for my skins but I just haven't got around to it yet.

A few years later, MoPac is repainting everything:

I skinned the JR light grey track to lighter still and almost white. Looks pretty good:

Lighter Grey:

NOTE: Ignore the train, I'm in the process of completely re-reskinning it.

ulmer94,

Look nice!! Those E7 or E8/9??? Where those from?

NKP

E8, but I told you guys to ignore it, I was improving the textures...

PS - To Mister Ron Gore (If you're still out there): Can't you line things up better next time you texture a model? This was one pain in the rear to get all the stripes lined up correctly.

LOL, I cuss Justin up one side and down the other for the mapping on the F-7's (and I'm pretty sure he did some remapping to fix some of the issues when he put out the reskin kit): Sounds like the E's are worse!!! Looks good, though, Ulmer!

ulmer94,

I don't understand you talking about it.

I was showing off the tracks in the original pictures. I said to ignore the locomotive and train because I'm in the middle of redoing all the textures. The E8 is pretty much done now, as you can see, but it wasn't when I posted the original post, and the consist isn't even hardly started yet.

If you think the F-units are bad, don't even try diecastgalore's E's, they'll make you totally forget about cussing Justin. Especially if your striping is going to be any more complicated than what mine is. Besides it not lining up correctly, the texture repeats on the sides and top, instead of stretching. Justin's are perfect compared to this. :D

Somebody needs to make a new set of F's and E's sometime that are NOT based on the Auran models, and with textures designed for easy reskinning.

What hair I haven't pulled out is a lot grayer after some of the F's I've done. Thanks for the warning about the E's- I thought about doing some but haven't got around to it. Now, I'll stay away from them. (I've got some other projects lined up along with a TON of unfinished ones).

And, don't get me wrong, Justin: I love the stuff you've put out there for us to reskin! I'm certainly not knocking it at all!! The freebies you guys let us play with are great! Just saying that he F's are just a ROYAL pain in the a$$ for certain schemes with curves across the nose. I can't begin to guess how many reskins have hit the recycle bin on them.

Thundering along the line on my WIP C&O Bad Axe Sub caught Huron & Eastern #101.

The GP9 is from VMD's downloadable stash of blanks. I have tried to get them to host some of my stuff, but I never get any response to my emails.

I did a GP9 on their model too, but they've dropped off the face of the earth again. That's why I only did one and have never done anything else on their loco again. No fun painting stuff you can't share.
