Show off your reskins!

We do check out diecastgalore's e8s on the DLS.

EDIT: Here's the link: https://www.auran.com/TRS2004/DLS_viewasset.php?AssetID=162885

I actually tried that one first before I tried the E9, unfortunately it had Union Pacific as a sort of different layer from the paint, so I couldn't figure out how to either change or remove it. And there was that little light on the top, I didn't want that on there since the SP didn't have those (to my knowledge).

Those SP Daylight F's look sweet!!

By the way...

PS - I think your paint job is better than mine...

Wait, were you that one guy that posted that E9 on lilbz forum? I was that one guy that requested the 6051 E9. And thanks, but of course this is JointedRail's F7's we're talking about, not to mention, your E9 isn't in the game yet, I'm sure it will look better once you have the game's lighting on it. (Also, let it be said that your stuff it better scaled, I messed up on the SP logo on the nose, among many other things if I'm honest). One thing I just noticed, are you going to paint the bottom red instead of black?

It took me a while to figure out where all the parts were, I'm still cloning and repainting. I also removed a lot of parts, such as the 3-chime horn mounted on that odd frame, and the beacon, and a few other pieces.

Yessir. :D

I think all your scaling was just fine, except it's on an F-unit. :D

Yup, just hadn't gotten around to it yet. It's still very much a WIP. I'm looking for a suitable horn mesh as well, that I can get permission to use on it. The one on it now is a stand-in borrowed from Ben Neal's SD7/9 kit.

Yeah, I sifted through the files, but I couldn't quite figure it out, so I ended up doing F-units instead.

Ah, I thought so, it looked very familiar. It's kinda odd that lilb closed down his forum, I was looking forward to seeing updates on some of his stuff, especially the SP coaches. Do you know if he'll be doing the updates on the rrmods forum instead?

You know there actually was a F-unit painted in the Daylight livery. But it wasn't the SP, it was the Cotton Belt that did it.

This picture was found by someone on here, just google image search "daylight f7" and you'll find the post itself.

Cool, I'll be willing to try it once you get it done :D Will you be doing a E9B to go with it?

Not a problem at all, except 6051 is an E9, not an F7... :hehe:

That's the way I was led to believe by the message he left on the forum after he closed it.

I think there actually were some SP F-units painted in Daylight colors also, but I may be all wet there. I can't find any pictures, besides scale models, that are in Daylight colors. You've given me another F7 paint job project, though....

Probably not.

Here's how it looks in Railyard. And yes, the trucks are white instead of black, I'll fix 'em later.

Well I know that, but what else am I supposed to number it as? :o I just figured that I'd number it that way, and make it easier.

Ah ok, I registered there (because I wanted to download the Veranda's and Turbines and whatnot), but I didn't register for the forum, guess that's the next step.

I've looked quite a bit, I'm fairly sure the SP never had a Daylight F7 in it's roster (I'm sure they made those model Daylight F7's for fun, or anyone who'd be interested in buying them, wouldn't be the first time I've seen such a thing), which surprises me, it was such a beautiful paint scheme. Nothing against the Bloody Nose and Black Window paint schemes, but I've always preferred the Daylight scheme.

Probably not.

Awwww :(

That ain't so bad, it's definitely an update in detail over the E9 that I used for my Daylight scheme:
Untitled-1.jpg

(There was so much wrong with this one that I just gave up, as you can see, the SP logo is WAY too big on the nose, as is the SP lettering and numbering on the side, I also had quite a few problems with the line from the nose to the side, not to mention I disliked the reflection on it, it all just went wrong, lol).

I never see these E9 in trainz.. Where those E9 download to trainz?

NKP

No, neither of them are. Mine definitely won't because it's a lost project, not to mention I'd have to go and get the permission from the original author to upload it. But like I said, it's a terrible reskin. Now as for ulmer94's E9, he might put it up for download once he finishes, I don't know, you'd have to ask him.

And there are no SP E9's on the DLS. BUT there are E9's from other railroads on the DLS if you search for them (I know that there are PRR and NYC E9's on there, because I downloaded them).

Firstly Jamie, I resent being called a 'show off'. I DO find it offensive and while I have been exhibiting quite a few skins of late which just happen to include ones other people have exhibited does NOT make me a show off. Besides, this thread is called 'Show Off your reskins'

Taylor: TPA hasn't been touched in months, so nothing had been released. My WP and NP stuff will go to Project Western when the new site is developed (hope Dave doesn't mind me saying that the current site will be torn down for reasons I'm not going into) but one day, they will be released. Please stop pressuring me, a lot of people have been in the past few weeks.

Andrew: I suppose it has to do with the mapping/mesh conundrum. Textures seem to distort at the nose but this is something that you need to work around.

Cheers
Tim

I've done my share of reskins, and I've got to agree. I haven't done the E's (yet), but the F's are pure hell with certain schepainted mes! The compound curves play hell with distortion, and it is made so much worse by the fact that so many schemes have more curves onto those curves. Then the mapping around the windshields and the seam between the "hood" and "nose" parts makes it even worse. I've said it before, those units are a b!tch to reskin, but when they are done right, they are just awesome!

You've been doing a great job with them, Tim! Keep it up.
