Settle & Carlisle Problems

I have recently been treated to a copy of Trainz 2010 with a copy of the Settle to Carlisle add-on and I must say that I am very disappointed!

After carrying out the required updates I expected to enjoy this latest versions of the program that occupies so many hours of my life!

The Settle and Carlsisle add-on has most of its stations missing that it is a misery to run any of the introduction rides properly. I don’t know if the intention of Trainz was for a new user to trawl the DLS for them or just to install new stations of their own choosing? Vast areas of Track are missing – probably due to updating the track. A classic case of failing to fully test a release before sending it to market.

Trainz 2010 Surveyor has many of its assets highlighted in red – meaning they are not available – as indeed are some of the Engine Shed items that are also not available either! Several of the included Routes are also badly affected by global updating.

I have had Trainz from Ultimate Trainz to the present and found TR2006 to be the most easy to come to grips with… I think that the problem lies in releasing software before it is fully tested!

If anyone out there can suggest where I might be going wrong please let me know!

S&C 2009 and TS2010 definitely work together - very well in fact. There is no need to download additional content.

Do an Extended Database Repair in content manager - it may take a while so just let it run. Should clear the red marked items, post back if not.

All the required content is included and you shouldn't need to download anything. Anything in red is faulty content which has been carried on from earlier versions and you can ignore for now.

Having just added S&C to 2010 fully patched, last night in fact, there does not appear to be anything missing here that I can find, no red errors and it hasn't messed anything else up. I was up to 3am playing with it!

Tried running an EDR?

What OS are you using?

Likewise, I've installed and reinstalled the S&C into both 09 and 10, without a hitch, along with the Murchison pack, so I don't know why you'd be experiencing problems.

Like you i have recently obtainted trs2010 and the S+C addon (digital download for the s+c)
The way i did the install was first to a clean install of trs2010, then patched it myversion is now up to 44088, then I installed the S+C add-on as an integrated item rather than as a stand alone item.
Then patched the S+C up to the current version and then launched trs2010 and checked that it is listed in cmp, if not then do a database repair and it should find it and correct any problems.
Mine works perfectly on a brand new pc running win7 and 64 bit, if you need further help get in touch.

Hi Bill.

My version also works okay. You don't mention what computer spec's you have. This would be a good start in getting the many good people on here to help you. Many people online are always willing to help with the right information so please re-post and lets see if someone can help.

I was unfairly critical of TR2010 and SnC in my previous post and thank those of you who blogged to offer good advice. I did try many of your suggestions but still had troubles, finally I totally reinstalled TR2010 following up with a full install of SnC. Wonder of wonders I finally had a full working copy which I will test out over the next few days!

Where do I find updates for SnC not that I need them yet!
