Setting up TANE - Assets Problem

I used to have Trainz starting with TRS2006 then TRS 2009 but I left Trainz for a bit for Railworks.
But I backed up my content from the old versions and I recently got T:ANE as a gift so I thought I would install it.

Having a number of drives in my Desktop computer I decided a drive which had 95GB space would do for T:ANE.
It has been installed and patched and it works ok - still need to get used to working the different settings.

I tried installing some of the add-ons which the Content Manager said it was doing but instead of placing the new items on the same drive it created a new folder on the C:\ drive and filled up what spare space I had on the drive.
How do I tell the Content Manager to install the items on the same drive as the program?

I seem to have found the answer but when I try to install some of my older items it says - This Trainz version does not allow the installation of third-party content.
