Separating assets from each other

How complicated is it to separate assets from one another? What I mean is, there are several assets from JR freeware and some payware that I have purchased, that I would like to use in different scenes that I need to modify to look right. For example, JR Clack City Distributors: I would like to use the building but not the three storage tanks. Is there a way to delete the storage tanks and leave everything else? By the way, this is only for use on MY route that is not being uploaded.

I think all of them are one item, in the mesh, and can not be separated, or ripped, unless you had the source files (which you don't have).

I have removed the seats, and fire extinguisher, from the gen_sd cab (as they get in my way in freeintcam), so it may be possible

You may be able to make the tanks invisible by using an alpha channel on the texture. Set it to pure black (RGB 000000). If the texture file contains textures for other parts of the model, you'll have to set everything to pure white (RGB FFFFFF) except the parts you want to make invisible. Check the model over to see if this doesn't affect other parts of the model.

You may as well be speaking Greek to me. I have no idea what you just said. I have a feeling that this is WAY over my head.

If the asset is all one mesh then the above answer is correct.

Look at the config.txt of the JR asset and see if the mesh table has more that one mesh. If the tanks are a separate mesh you can set the auto-create line to "auto-create 0" and they will not display.

I looked and it is all one mesh . Thanks for the info however. It is good to know about the mesh.
