seem to be missing some stuff

First off its a load of bull that it will take up to 5 days for support to answer my question on a game I just bought and either I'm really stupid or its not working like its supposed to but yeah you got my money all ready so no big hurry or anything.
Maybe someone here can kindly help me but I have searched the forums and internet and everywhere in between and found no answers, anyway when I load the game and select tutorial I get nothing but a track and a landscape (no train) no instructions no nothing just a track and landscape I would guess when you use a tutorial that teaches you how to drive the train in the game they would maybe provide you with the train and some instruction also all of the other modes outside of the tutorials seem to be missing the trains too and any type of instruction.
My graphics settings at all set to max or high by default but yet any landscape I see in the game still has yellow grid lines in patches in between the trees and such, is there a reason for all this I'm missing does $50 get you half of a game called trainz that includes no trains and half the detail it should have.
Please help if you can my son was really looking forward to watching/playing this game and we are both very dissatisfied now.

After you click on Tutorials, you should see four images that allow you to select the tutorial you want. Do you see this? If so, which one are you choosing?

Where did you buy the program?

What is the build number? Look at first intro screen, bottom right hand corner.

TS12 is widely used and there are very few problems with it. It is possible that you have a faulty installation.

I only see two tutorials and I bought it through steam as far as build number goes I won't be able to check that until tomorrow but I'm thinking that maybe I do have a bad install I just really dread having to reinstall the game and wonder if ill just get the same result. Thank you for your help.

hey punisher, the best thing to do in this situation is to buy trainz from auran...like get the cd. never buy something from steam again. you can ask anyone on here. its just a bad idea. i use steam to buy really old "back in the day" games that no one will support anymore anyway.

news games dont work well with steam, because you cant work with the game as you would with the cd.

yeah so ur best bet is order trainz from auran, and till the game comes, mess with the trainz u have on steam and get used to it. I know thismay seem like a crappy response, but theres not much else you can do.

The only major issue with Steam versions is the lack of patches.

As for the issue mentioned, I think a simple database repair may help. This can be done by clicking Content on the Launcher screen, then clicking File followed by Extended Database Repair. This will take a while though.

Thank you everyone for the replies, I did the extended database repair and it worked so now I'm up and running with all my previously stated issues corrected and I do have to agree about using steam to buy a game this large cause I kinda had a feeling it was a bad idea.
I really do appreciate the help but if I could ask one more question unrelated to database issues (I think) so after I finished the tutorials and messed around for awhile I decide to see what quick drive was about and found it to be kind of straight forward, you pick trains, driver, controls, etc. And your on your way to do whatever you want but I found when picking trains I was very limited as to the engine I could choose to lead my freight cars when I chose the layout it showed a really nice looking locomotive but I couldn't find it on the quickdrive portion of the game but I did find some passenger cars all ready coupled to an engine which was fun but didn't satisfy me because I really like older locomotives, do I have to download these trains to use them in quick drive because I'm certain I have the content allready because when I play the scenario I can use the one I see in the picture at the start, so is there a menu I'm not seeing or am I just out of luck.
Thank you in advance for taking the time to read my ramblings.

Welcome to Trainz.
When you open a route in Quick Drive, you are only opening the route and not a pre-prepared session.
To enable a consist of your choice to be available in Quick Drive you first have to create it in Surveyor.
Lay out a bit of track and select your engine, then add the coaches or trucks that you want to make up your train. Then go to the Consist pull-out (next to the Locomotives pull-out) and use the Select Button to click on your newly created train. You will be given the opportunity to name it as you please.
When you go into Quick Drive next time, the new consist should be there.
