Searching 4 lane road to 2 lane road

Hello everybody,

I'm looking for a spline or object to add a roadsection going from 4 lanes to 2 lanes.

When you look at the picture - now it's abruptly going from 4 lanes to 2 lanes.

I would like to use a 4 lane road going smoothly to a 2 lane road?

Does it exist? Can I find it on the DLS?

Thank you

I would think that such a junction would need to be created as a scenery object by whoever made the roads which you want to join. It would be similar to the 'street to tram reservation' which I made some time ago for my 'City Streets' series (UK).

Hello Ray,

Thank you for your reply.

As I couldn't find a 4 lanes and 2 lanes spline with the same structure, I used this option ( see picture ) for now.

Hopefully there is such a spline, otherwise back to the drawingboard and I will have to look for another solution which is close enough to the real situation.

Best regards

Hello Kurt

This junction could not be done with a spline - the road widening from two to four lanes would have to be a scenery object. I would make it with attached, non-updating invisible road so that the road splines would attach and traffic would continue to move. (If anyone knows better, please post!)

But without know the original dimensions and textures used, this could not be done.

Why not contact the creator of any roads that you would like to use?

I might be able to use my own street splines and textures to have a go - if they would be acceptable and if I can find them (they may have been lost with the failure of my old computer.) What width of two-and four-lane road would you need?

If I do have a go, it will not be immediate as I have a fifteen-item project under way which I would like to complete before tackling anything else!

Hold/Don't Hold the KB Shift key (keeps splines from clicking together like maganets')... and you can lay a turnout of 2 lane road ... but cars will not continue onto each section of non-joined roads.

But in that case I just a spline section of invisible road and the cars continue.

Hello Ray,

Thank you for your advice and suggestions.

I will be using several types of 2 lanes roads, ( with and without sidewalks ).

types of roads that I would like to use are :

HP road asphalt lines
Austin 4L road
Road with sidewalk

At this time, I'm in a bit of an experimental phase ( what to use, and what to avoid ).

Best regards

Hello Cascaderailroad,

Thank you for the extra information.

Hello Joe,

Thank you for your answer.

I downloaded the Yarn adaptor L4L2 and started some experimenting.

When you use the following

a) Road asphalt 4L BNSF50 + Yarn adaptor L4L2 + Road Asphalt 2L BNSF50 = cars are riding continuously ( no invisible road used ) ( roads have different colours ).

b) Road Light Asphalt 2L Yel Stripe BNSF50 + Yarn adaptor L4L2 +invisible road 2L BNSF50 + Invisible road 4L BNSF50 + Road Asphalt 4L Du Yel stripe BNSF50 = cars riding continuously.

Best regards

The 'YARNish' clones are better than the original if used in 09 or 10...

Search the DLS for 'Yarnish', imho the best road system in Trainz...

That's because the YARNish stuff includes invisible roads.
