May seem a silly question to but I need someone to clarify this matter.

Although I am aware that to display in screenshots a freeware layout which I have altered, would require permission off the original creator, would such permission still be required if I did this with a payware layout?

For example I alter Retford Station on the ECML in TS2012 to a 1960`s version then wish to display some screenshots of this work, would I have to seek authorisation off the creator(s), or, because I have actually paid for this layout, does this give me freedom regarding any screenshots?

I did not think you needed Permission to post screenshots........so long as you don't claim the route as entirely your creation and let everyone know its a personal layout that won't be released (unless you get permission to do so)

General protocol is that. You can post screenshots of anything (within reason). There is some people in the UK community (possibly others, I only have seen it in the UK) who do get all up in arms when their stuff is posted in screenshots. especially when you've modified it, however I haven't seen anyone complain in a while, and I wouldn't be bothered by them.

To the original poster's question... remember it can also never hurt to ask either. Nothing wrong with slipping the creator a quick PM or e-mail asking nicely.

I've seen varying reactions on the forums over the years, from being flattered and liking the alterations, to indifference, to objecting against posted changes. That's why it can never hurt to ask.

Thanks for the advice chaps, it is very much appreciated.

Had a good laugh over Casaderailroad`s snaps, that volcano one definitely gives a new meaning to the description of a steam railroad.

Hope to be able to start an `oldiefication` job on parts of this ECML shortly as I`ve already started gathering info; so provided I`m not policed off the screenshots I look forward to contributing snaps in the future.
