Saving assets to folder?

Hello all,

Sorry if this has been covered somewhere else; I used the search function and couldn't find anything. I will try to make this as easy as possible to understand. I am going to be getting a new gaming PC, and I'm basically wanting to move my Trainz content over from my current system. Would it be possible to drop all of my assets into a folder? I was thinking the easiest way would be to do that, drag the folder to en external drive, drop onto the new system, and import all files into the Trainz CDP on the new system... or is that not a possibility?

Thanks.

You can drag and drop or copy and paste your entire Trainz install from one machine to another if networked, or via an external drive if not, as you have suggested. This has the advantage of being exactly as it was on your old machine without need to install, patch and import assets. In other words, much quicker.

you will have to install TS2010 on to your new computer first, because there are some files that are needed that get loaded into your Windows/sysWOW64 folder, when you install Trainz on to any computer. now you can ether transfer all your TS2010 across, or just load the user data file across, to your new install, then do an EDR and you should be fine.

Thanks for the replies... My current OS is Vista Ultimate, 64-bit. My new OS will be Win 7, 64-bit. Would the change of OS complicate this?

The OS change shouldn't complicate things. I've moved from Windows Vista to Windows 7 and had no issues with programmes not running. Trainz actually performed slightly better under Windows 7 as well.

Kieran.
