Saving a cdp

Quick question for you guys and gals...Lets say I have a layout with custom rolling stock skins and content. I place all the rolling stock on the layout. No errors, No faults. Then I save it as a cdp. Should the software collect all the individual dependency's of the rolling stock and along with the route. It just seems whenever I try that, I end up reinstalling missing dependency's. If doing a simple "export as a cdp" WON'T collect everything, is there a way to do it? For archiving, I'd like to have one cdp to reinstall as a complete layout.
Thanks folks and have a great day!
Oh yeah... maybe important...this is referring to TANE and '17

You're right: Save the route or sessions don't save the dependencies. For that, go to CM, and select all dependencies for the particular route, and save them to cdp. Now, when I try doing it, I can't! Why?, I think there is a limit of how many assets you can save. We need a light on this. What is the proper method? May be splitting the list so each cdp would have the max allowed?

You can make a cdp as large as you like however you will never be able to install it if it's over 500MB as Trainz can't read it.

Do not select all dependencies, that will cause problems, select only locally modified or installed from the DLS. Builtins and payware will break if you install from cdp, opening the installed ones for editing and necessitating returning them all to original.

You will also find that all dependencies when you re-install will be marked as locally modified and some will have lost their DLS protection and now be faulty, anything that shows a warning pre saving to cdp is likely to become an error. Locally modified is really for creators and will show errors relevant to the build you are using as it it assumes you have created or edited the item, so it gets checked when installed. Installing from the DLS it only shows errors relevant for the build number it was made for.

Far safer and less trouble is just to backup your local and original folders.
