Saved Session Problem

Hi
I recently downloaded the excellent route " Clinchfield-TRS2010 and am using it in my TS12

I have just come across a problem I've not had before, when I go back into a saved session ALL the point levers are red/red and of course in this state will not work.

The following error message appears in the bottom right hand corner :

Thread exception ER_NullReference, line21, file trackprioritymarker.gs

Stack Dump

Kuid 3:10109 " All Routing Priority Marker :: Set Properties(soup),line-1

Now what the hell does that mean ??

Anyhow it obviously refers to the priority markers that I use on this and every other route I've ever run so I don't see why its only affecting this route.

I have tried moving some of the point levers and changing them for different ones but no matter what I do I cannot save a session and go back and resume it, so it a very annoying situation.

Does anyone have any idea what is going on and how to resolve it ?

BTW. I have no real computer knowledge so please keep it simple. Thanks

Cheers

I have had this problem myself and wrote a post on it. It was in 2010 but from what you said it sounds like the same problem which is layers related, You must do certain things in Surveyor, route and certain things in Surveyor, session. In Route everything except the locomotive tab and rules. You do not have to adhere strictly to this rule but this is a good practice. with regard to your specific problem I think it may have been because the track was laid in sessions, then you played a session, saved it and played the saved session. Have I got this right? If so the only solution I know is to go into route, delete the point switch (track not lever or point motor) and relay it. If you are talking about the entire route I,m wondering if there is another solution such as merging layers. Best to clone the route before you attempt that just in case... And a 2nd opinion would be a good idea as well.Thinking about it I think my solution is incorrect and might not work. First of all try creating a new route and session and see if that cures it. If not... plan B or Plan C.

Hi
Thanks for reply

I always as a matter of course have back ups of my favourite routes and on these I have tried using the layers etc but it has not solved the problem.

The error message is saying something but I don't really understand what, ? where is this " line 21 " thats causing the problem ? if I could find it and delete it would that solve things ?

As I said I have used the " Priority markers " on all my routes and not had any problems, however as this error message is refering to them something must be amiss.
I'm wondering if just one marker is somehow in a " wrong position " which is making all this happen ?

My problem is that I'm pretty useless when it comes to computers so I don't know where to start on this one ?

Any suggestions ?

Going back to my post first of all, If as I said you play the game, save it, play the saved game at a later time and it is screwed up then it is pretty much as I said. I don,t think the specific cause has been identified or fixed except that it it appears to be a layers problem. It is the actual track that somehow becomes corrupted and assumes a strange shape hence the point indicator displays a double red arrow. However your problem is with a downloaded route and it is hard to believe that the author would make such a basic mistake and then fail to detect it. So first of all you should look elsewhere. two simple checks. Are you running in administrator? and 2nd Go into CM and check the route for missing and faulty dependencies. And try this test. Select: Route, Edit Route, delete the entire switch between the track splines and do the same with one or two more. You could also place a locomotive
PHP:
with a driver if that makes it easier to place your camera on in driver. Now save the route and session under a new name. Now go into driver, check the newly installed point switches are still ok then save. Load the newly saved session and check the point switches. Finally post results f checks and tests.

About your priority marker error. It is highly unlikely that this would corrupt your point switches. This is a script error and would not be caused by placing a Priority marker in the wrong place. The only thing that could mess up is your AI train. You should not delete or change anything in script unless you REALLY know what you are doing. Perhaps somebody who understands this could advise you on how to correct it.

When I go to " Edit route " there is no content at all present, no track, buildings, bridges etc just the boards, and textures but nothing else.
The content only appears in the session

trackprioritymarker.gs is the local script that one of the authors of one of the objects has written. It would seem that the script might not be compatible with TS12 as I am sure it has been tested fully with TS10 and saving sessions has obviously worked before.

I am curious about the kuid, as I cannot locate it here but must be available I am sure either as a built in asset or available as a download.

I dont think there is much that can be done apart from contacting the author of the kuid that is mentioned and ask if they can test/modify it for TS12

SetProperties is the mechanism that gets stuff from the database which is saved in the session. I have had this problem myself in 2010 as my code was wrong but have changed it so that it now works correctly. I can only surmise though where the error is in the script.

In light of what Kessica said you may have to consider getting rid of the all those track priority markers and see if that fixes your problem. The only other thing I can think of is make a copy of the route and session and try to merge them. I may download the route to make sure it is ok.

Hi
Thanks for replies guys

Firstly the priority marker ( kuid 3:10190 )is a Auran built in asset which I use on all my routes without any problems so it just seems to be conflicting with this route.

I've gone back to the original ( as downloaded ) clinchfield TRS2010 and put on loco and drove a bit then saved and when I went back in the saved session worked fine, so it seems it is something to do with the priority markers and this amended route.

I will rename it and save it and try and go through the whole route taking out the markers but leaving all the other modifications and changes I have done and then see if it fixes the problem.

What I can't get my head around is why these markers are not working in this Clinchfield route but work ok in all the others ? just seems odd to me, like its not the markers but something in the route which is causing a conflict, sadly I know so little about computer programmes that I'm at a loss to explain it.

I will keep you updated on this as other people might have the same problem at some time

You have all the content on the wrong layer. Open the edit session of the route and click on the layer tab. You should have the session layer selected. Now click on merge and merge with the route layer.

Thanks stagecoach, this was the answer to all the problems. I can save a session and go back to it and resume with none of the earlier problems.
Thanks once again
