Santa Maria Valley Project

1 working, 3 drinking, sound like 1 worker, 2 safety guys, 1 supervisor.

some more great shots, would like to see some full size shots.

Very Nice looking route.
I don't want to sound like I'm nitpicking in any way but I need to point things out in your stormpipe replacement shot.
Using cranes, especially the HUGE one shown are not used unless there is something the size of a large house in the way of the pipe. Even with something that size in the way, it's actually easier and cheaper to do an underground bore to set the pipe.
The other crane shown is what's known as a "hydro" or hydraulic crane because the boom is able to be extended or shortened for transport. Again it's not used for placing pipe unless it's on an existing building or one that is under construction.
The excavators and loaders shown are 100% correct. The placement is perfect as is the pipe layout. To clarify my explanation of the pipelaying/ relacement, the excavators are used for placement and/or removal of the pipe.
A loader, bulldozer (on occasion), excavator, a water truck/tanker/ and a lot of manpower (if it's a large job) are usually the norm for a job like the one shown here.
I have explained all of this because I am a heavy equipment operator and construction safety consultant by trade and am VERY familiar with excavation and utility work like this.

Lars isn't to far off on that Bulldog. I do underground and grading for a living and I've been on jobs were we needed a 300 ton crane to place 10 foot ID pipe. Granted that crane is a little overkill but it also depends on how far away you need to lift it. Great job Lars.:)

Bill

300 ton crane on a pipeline? WOW.

I've seen them on the large bridge jobs, etc. Here in Colorado, I've never seen one on a pipeline and that's why I posted what I did.

Like I said, I'm a heavy equipment operator and do a LOT of heavy dirt and pipeline jobs.

Nice shot there Lars! Sunrise / sunset shots are great. I take note of your landscaping and try to implement layers. That seems to make it more realistic like real life. Nature knows no rules when it comes to growing things. Grow where it can!

Great job again.

In need of another Betatester

To get the absolutely best result, i need a couple of fresh eyes.

If you're interested, please PM me some info about yourself and your system

This route is pretty detailed so a high end computer is advised.

The ones selected will be contacted.

ROUTE IS MADE FOR Trainz 2006 SP1.

The SMVRR Route went out to my Betaguys last night.
As soon as they filed back their thoughts and my screw-up's, i will fix the flaws and find a decent place to upload it for those who are interested.

Those who subscribe to my Smvrr Blog will be notified about the release.;)

Hi Mick.

Actually, next route is allready in progress.
I am now working on the UP line From Lompoc to Paso Robles.
This is the Line that The Smvrr route connects to at Guadalupe.

I am making it as an Easy fit to Santa Maria route, so you guys can easy join them together in time.
I have been thinking about building the entire route All the way (Lompoc-Guadalupe-San Luis Obispo-Templeton-Paso Robles-San Miguel-King City-Salinas-castroville-Watsonville-Gilroy and into San Jose) and upload them as modules.
With the Detailing i like, it would be almost impossible to do it as one Route.

The complete DEM's for That area, was finnished off yesterday.

I have a couple of friends in the area, and connections within Smvrr and UP, so i feel safe about doing the route.

The only Demotivating Thing Is all the fields along the route;)
