Running on the spot

Two very old locos 4-8-4s which have been working perfectly for years have suddenly started running on the spot. Why?
The wheels rotate slowly while the loco is standing still.
Running at any speed, the wheels rotate at the same slow speed.
I have successfully moved these locos through many versions of Trains.
They have been working well in 2009.
I am presently running 2009 and would like to know what I have done and how to fix it.
Thanks
Stuart.

Open the bogeys and delete the line on the config referring to animation-loop-speed.

What are the kuids of the locos and, if possible, bogeys?

Deleting the line stopped them working. They just froze.
The loco I like best is kiud 59906:4449 and the Mid Bogies it seems to use are kuid 2:59906:50013:1.
I know the loco is supposed to be too old to work in 2009 but it has been working fine for over a year now.
Obviously I have done something to change things and I don't know what.
Thanks for the suggestions.
Stuart.

I’ve been having the same problem with the Cowboy’s Frisco 1522 4-8-2 Mountain Type (kuid: 79097:1001). I used PEVsoft to make the necessary changes, and got it to appear in TS2010, only to have the main bogies (kuid2:79097:50002:1) also running constantly on the spot.

I tried deleting the animation-loop-speed, but the bogies just stopped running. I then tried increasing the settings of the animation-loop-speed, but the bogies just ran faster.
I reset the animation-loop-speed back to “1” then deleted the anim “anim.kin line which is one line above, and the bogies now progressively speed up as the loco increases speed.

This seems to have solved the problem.

From CCG2006.PDF, page 33:
"anim anim.kin
animation-loop-speed 1.0
These are no longer required. Trainz automatically recognises the anim.kin file for the bogey. These lines if used in the config.txt will generate an error log message about incorrectly specified animation being ignored."

Also, in the config.txt file for the main driver bogey of Steam locos you need to have this tag:
direct-drive 1

Again from the CCG
"When direct-drive is present, the bogey animation is linked to the steam piston and physics system. If this tag is not included the piston and steam sounds will not work!
The direct-drive tag may also be used on an invisible locomotive bogey to achieve correct sound timing for the asset.
in the main driver bogey."

Thanks. Both locos are almost okay now.
The drivers are working perfectly once again.
Could you give me a clue as to exactly where to put the direct-drive 1?
I have tried a few places in the config file but the sound remains as if the engine was stationary.

Could someone do a cut-and-paste of a correctly configured bogie/loco for say, ts2009/2010.
There must be many of us missing some fine creators work due to this problem.
