RTX 5060TI vs RTX 5070

Both should be more than capable, having said that the one with 16 GB of memory is more future proof.

Someone just told me go with the RTX 5070 as it has PCIe 5.0 x16 which is basically double of 4.0 (but it will only be used with 4.0 x16). If you go with the 5060 TI, you only have PCIe 3.0 x16 speed with the PCIe 4.0 x8 connection.

You pays your money and takes your choice, would the 16 gigs of memory cache the memory better than having a better PCIe throughput to load the memory. I personally don't think you'll see much practical difference. At this level of GPU and trainz it's unlikely you'll max the GPU unless you choose your content very carefully. The PBR textures do take up more memory so that becomes part of the trade off.

I would go with the 5070. Thats just my opinion. If you are buying just for trainz, I daubt you will go over the 12gb of vram. I am using a rtx 5070ti, The 5070 can't be much slower than the 5070ti. Mine is blazing fast. You should be good for several years. The 5060 ti is on the pcie 5.0 speed at 8x. Not 4.0. I just don't think 4gb is worth the slower card with more vram. More vram doesn't always mean better card. Good luck.

Depends a little bit on your wallet. But bigger things to consider are resolution, and content creation needs. Also, it is a fact the two GPUs use PCIe 5.0. However, the 5060 series use a X8 slot, while the 5070 and higher series use a X16 slot.

The RTX 5070 12GB offers roughly 25-35% higher raw performance due to more cores and wider memory bandwidth, while the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB provides greater VRAM for longevity and high-resolution texture-heavy gaming, making the choice depend on whether you prioritize immediate performance or future-proofing.

In conclusion, the decision depends on your priority between raw performance and VRAM size. For long-term VRAM-heavy use cases, the 5060 Ti 16GB may age better, but for overall performance and broader high-resolution game headroom, the RTX 5070 12GB is the superior choice.
