Route speed help

Greetings from the New York Frontier! (5 miles from Quebec Province)

I am having a devil of a time with my route speed. My session tells me that the speed limit is 40mph. I've tried sped boards to no avail. I've tried "set max speed to" in driver commands and nothing seems to work. additionally some track tells me the speed limit is 43 MPH.

I'm running TS12 Hot Patch 4. I would really like to use "set max speed to" in driver commands. It seems to be error free, but I cannot get it to work.

I have a large layout with 50 to 60 AI trains running to service industries.

Any one have any insights??

There are two possibilities here:

1.Your speed signs are KM/h rather than MPH - check your speed signs for this.
2.The speed signs are not in the right places.

Set max speed to is probably dependent on the posted track speed limit.

Hi Jim,

I hope you're staying warm. :)

To add to what Shane has said...

You might want to check that the switches are set for the train's travel. The AI drivers will travel at 1/2 the posted speed if a junction is set incorrectly for them.

You have placed enough signals? I put type 05 signals between the type 04 an 06 signals. The type 05 signals are permissive or advance signals and the AI train will respond to them. They also allow more than one train to travel within a same block as another train. The trailing AI driver will travel slower if he sees a yellow ahead, but the train ahead will be able to move at full speed.

For spacing, I use the US 2000T coal train as a ruler. Where the train ends, I place a type 05 signal. When I reach a double-single, I place a type 04 in the train's direction, and a type 06 facing at the split from the single.
