I'd like to get permission from the creator to modify and release this route, but no name or email is listed in the config file. What options do I have?

What is his username?

Have you looked up his/her username at Planet Auran ("Profile" button above)? Check the memberlist here; you should be able to send an email from the forums.
Does s/he list an website? You might check there.

But post the username. Someone here might know the person.

in Content Creator it lists chileanllama as the author, but there is no info in the config file. I found another route by him, but the email listed in the config file is no longer valid.

But upon further searching, I found a post where he states as follows to another route modifier: "Hi pfx, thanks for asking, and you're more than welcome to rework it. I'm no longer active in the community, and all I would ask is that my original work is acknowledged in the credits "

So, my question becomes, if I give chileanllama credit as the original creator of the route, am I covered under the rules of the house for this sort of thing?

I contacted him via PM here and got permission to release an updated version of the route. It's still in production at present.

Same terms apply, just acknowledge my original work in the credits if/when you upload it.
