Riverside Railroad -- Session 1

I am uploading the first session for RiversideRailroadCo 2a that appeared on the Download Station a few days ago. It is for Trainz 04/06/09/10. 09 and 10 users may need Compatibility Mode. The session will run particularly well in 09 and 10 on multi-core processors because the AI is shunted off onto the second core.

All the dependencies needed by the session are on the Download Station and will be captured automatically by Download Helper (TRS2004) and CMP/2/3 (later Trainz versions) when the session is downloaded.

The one exception might be the Caterpillar Excavator product, kuid 56063:700001, which might have to be downloaded manually. There may be an error message or the simulation may crash if this is not installed.

There may be some who are unfamiliar with my sessions. This is intended as a visual guide for the uninitiated. It is only a guide – in most of my sessions there is no correct sequence. What is important is that you complete the tasks assigned to you.

These are your instructions:
Chuck and Joe, Dispatcher here. Welcome aboard. A short and easy turn for your first working with us, taking material and equipment to help with the derailment at the grain silos and a load of scrap metal to the wharf at Lys.
Firstly refuel your locomotive.
Then you will find your rake of freight cars in the scrap metal yard loop.
Load the excavator onto the depressed centre flat car at the TOFC yard, Industry D20, load scrap into the gondolas at Steptoes, Ind D22, and load sleepers onto the flats at the MoW Depot, Ind D26.
Leave the flats for unloading at the grain silos, Ind G03, and unload the gondolas at the scrap wharf at Lys, Ind L44.
Contact me when done.

Your locomotive is standing outside the loco depot:

Move it onto the turntable and then forward to the fuel point. After refuelling head over to the loop leading to the scrap yard. It is here that you will find your consist:

Uncouple the depressed centre from the rear of the consist. If you go into the map view (press Ctrl-M) the map will show your location and the names of all the industries. Find Industry “Ind D20” on the map. Go back to driver by pressing Ctrl-M again. Make your way over to Ind D20 and stop with the depressed centre between the yellow markers. The excavator will load onto the car:

Go back to the main consist and propel it down the track and into the scrap yard. The gondolas will load when spotted between the yellow markers at Industry Ind D22:

Run round the train so that the gondolas are behind the locomotive. Reverse onto the main line and head west. Reverse into the MoW to load the timber sleepers at Ind D26:

Having loaded the train we are now away, passing the Classification Yard:

And out onto the trestles:

Past Armour, the meat works:

Switch to the map view from time to time to spot the AI trainz heading towards you. Here is David coming the opposite way on the AI track:

And passing us:

Take great care at the squeeze points where you share a section of track with the AI. They will not, repeat will not, stop for you so you must give way to them.

Passing the stock yards:

When you traverse The Terraces you know that you are approaching the grain silos:

Leave the flat cars for unloading next to the derailed gondolas:

And continue over the trestles:

And through the approaches to Lys:

Make your way down to the lower level and reverse into the scrap wharf to unload at Ind L44:

Contact the Dispatcher for your next movements.

The session should take about 1h30 to complete. It is any easy session. The main challenge is the AI trainz. Your train is very heavy and will be difficult to stop, particularly on down grades. Always keep a good eye on the AI and make sure you can stop at the squeeze points if necessary. You should try to control your speed so that you do not need to stop. If you have any doubts – don’t.

If you do want to attempt heroic manoeuvres, save the session first.

Enjoy.

Edit:

With the Christmas break I'm not sure how long it will take to appear on the Down Load Station. For those who can't wait I'll leave it here until it's on the DLS:

That Excavator product looks interesting.
Hope you don't mind, I was figuring out how to let you know, you should check this thread
http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?t=49760
and the new HP-Trainz site, it has links to 3 track for TS2009/2010 (plus other items), might be the new MP-type tracks you were told about. Just mentioning since I know you use them a lot.

Nice:cool:
I do believe I'm getting TS09 for Christmas (I did ask my Aunty for it, she lives in Brisbane, which is where Auran is:hehe: ! When Christmas Day comes, which is very soon, I will download RiversideRailroadCo 2a and your session, looks pretty fun to me!
Thanks, and Merry Christmas
Mitch
P.S. My signature my suggest otherwise, but I find American trains and routes very interesting. I have BNSF Colvis Sub from checkrail.com and East Kentucky Coal aswell, both very fun:)

Hi Mitch --

Unless you are getting the digital download version I hope that you don't have the issues that some others are having with what appears to be faulty DVDs.

Be aware that the route will not look exactly the same in TS2010 as in the screen shotz taken above in TS2009.

In their wisdom (or lack thereof) Auran has obsoleted the MP-wood track with a hideous-looking frame-rate-destroying Auran track and those trees have been obsoleted by SpeedTrees.

Everything else should work.

I think you are mistaken, I'm getting TS2009, not 2010. You said in the first post that it runs best in 09, so I'm sort of, smug, I guess:hehe: ...
As for MP-wood, is it in 09? Wait, dont answer that, I'll know in excatly...... 21 hours:udrool: , Australian Eastern Time of course:cool: ... maybe a bit longer for you poor Yanks:( But, 21 hours isn't long when your playing THE best game ever;) ! You know what I mean...

Mitch --

Sorry. I did mis-read your post.

Until Auran sort out the obsoleting of perfectly good content I have difficulty in recommending TS2010 to anybody.

You've made a good choice with '09.

Phil

Yeh!

I think that Auran didn't put much thought into 2010 because 2010 was just a game to keep the crowds calm while they work on something better;) . But thats just my theory, but I sure hope I'm right...:hehe:

It seems to be takin' a whiles for Auran to fire up the DLS again.

The Rapidshare link given in post #1 is still active for those who would like to try a session for this route.
