Revert Back to Old Version of Asset

dricketts

Trainz Luvr since 2004
Is it possible to delete a new version of an asset and then download the old version from the DLS? Unfortunately I've already deleted the obsolete versions. I've noticed several of jankvis assets now have an alpha issue after the update. The updated versions seem to have a reflective property when something is directly behind them. I'd post a screenshot but I'm having other issues with Trainz right now.

I'm using TS1020 build 49933

Windows 8.1
Version 6.3.9600 Build 9600
Intel Core i7-4700HQ CPU @ 2.40GHz, 2394 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 12.0 GB
HD Size 910.06 GB 5400 RPM
Resolution 1920 x 1080 x 59 hertz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760M

Usually no, unless you have a backup of the original.

To the contrary....especially in TS12; maybe in TS2010.

Check your backups folder if there is one in TS2010 (I can't remember). It has a bit of history for the given day's work in Trainz. The folder is located in User Data\Backup\ and the individual dd-mm-yyyyyy formatted folder is your current backup. I've used this to revert a totally messed up route edit (my fault). I simply did some foot work in CM then imported the route from the day's backup folder I needed to retrieve.

Delete the new version then search on the kuid number on the black pages and ftp the old version. Import .cdp

One caveat on that - if you have used the asset on a route the route config will specify the new revision and won't use the old one.

The fix for a purely local route is to manually up the revision number on the obsolete asset and thereby fool the update software. That won't work on a distributed route, cause folks will get the update so the fix for a route to be distributed is to asset swap to a sacrificial asset, delete the update from CM, delete missing content on the route, then asset swap the sacrificial asset back to the 'obsolete' asset.
