While many users here are minors and possibly may not understand that many people do NOT want their e-mail address exposed to anyone who could solicit them to purchase Trainz software or whatever N3V is planning to market.

Not that anyone would do this, but, what happens if you enter 5 false e-mail addresses....would you get the additional discount?

Your thoughts on this.

Regards,

I don't see it as any different than many other online marketing campaigns. Or, for that matter, many if not most major online services like Youtube that allow one to email links to any kind of content.

Still, though Auran (as well as Youtube) are being wise in requiring login in order to do that; services that don't require this make good spambot targets.

Hope they cleared this with their legal department before making the offer public.
Good grief....every time something pops up that someone decides they don't like, it's "climb into the lawyer jeans" time. What in the stretch mark of an imagination would be illegal about this? Asking for referrals is a sales technique that goes back before anyone on this forum..or the world for that matter..was alive. People may not like having someone steer a sales pitch their way, but it's not illegal, so state your opinion on that aspect of the offer, but don't pad your side of the issue with implications of legality that are non-existent...:n:

I understood that as the five friends would receive a voucher not that you get five vouchers, think about it.....................

I thought about it.... and it says...YOU have the option to receive............

After reading the newsletter relating to this today, it appears that the request for email addresses is to nominate/recommend email addresses to recieve the Trainz newsletter.

Seems a bit sneaky to me.

Quoted directly from the newsletter:

Code:
You can get bonus vouchers by recommending your friends' email addresses to our newsletter!

Obviously the newsletter has made it a bit clearer then, I assumed wrongly.
I guess as this seems to be a common marketing strategy with a lot of companies, like it or not, N3V are just following suit.
Personally, I'd never give anyone else's email address out without their permission and I don't need five vouchers. However the click before think brigade are probably about to loose some friends.. :hehe:

Then let us all be gratefull they are not buying lists of adresses and spamming people, this is purely a volenteer thing.

I'd do it myself, if I knew anyone and had any money to begin with....:D
