Renaming Assets and Consists

What exactly is an asset ?

Is it a Steam engine
Is it a Diesel engine
Is it an Electric engine
Is it a Boxcar, Tank, Flat, Covered Hopper, Hopper, Caboose ... etc ... ?

Then why is one GG1 named PC, and the next Amtrak, and the next #4861, and the next DGLE ?

It should be named: "Electric/GG1/PRR/#4836/Brunswick Green

I rename all my favorite assets config file, username tag line: "AA A Electric GG1 PRR #4861 Brunswick Green" ... that way all my favorite assets show up right at the top of my pick list.

I do the same with all my other assets, ex: "Cheyenne 125' Engine House" becomes, ie: "AA A Engine House Cheyenne 125'"

As the same creators similar asset would be on a totally different area way up or down the pick list, ie: Sherman Hill RoundhouseTurntable
I rename it: "AA A Turntable Roundhouse Sherman Hill "

When you have a route with all your favorite assets on it you can easily select, view route dependencies( and open for edit 10, or so at a time), and rename the config file, username lines.

Some assets are wierdly named such as "Waschenlaunge" ... I renamed it: "AA A Washing Loco Shed Waschenlaunge"

The Point of the "AA A ..." is so that all of them fall under AA, as well as prefixing with another 3rd A ... Hence the "AA A ..."

All my locos are prefixed with "AA A", ie: "AA A Steam 0-8-0 PRR", or "AA A Diesel F7A PRR" ... then all my diesels, and steam locos are lumped all together in one "AA A Steam ... " alphabetical grouping.

I renamed the Chesapeake & Ohio 2-8-8-2 ... "AA A Steam 2-8-8-2 Chesapeake & Ohio" ... as it is a Steam engine ... not a Chesapeake & Ohio

"Dub tree" is named: "AA A Tree Dub 15m" as it is not a "Dub" ... it is a "Tree"

The same with a 50' PRR Plug Door Boxcar ... it is a "Boxcar" ... ie: "AA A Boxcar 50' Plug Door PRR"

Some creators start off the asset description as: 50' ... 50ft ... 50_Ft ... 50-Foot ... this is a ridiculous description ... when it is a BOXCAR
