Removal of a vehicle from recovery truck

Hi All

Another question and hope someone can help

I have downloaded this recovery vehicle kuid2:232184:21694:1 from the download station. There is also another one kuid2:232184:21696:1 both of which are 1 in the tilted position and the other one in the driving position. Both come complete with a car attached. My question is this:-

1. Can I remove the car and reupload to the download station so the both of them are available without a car.
2. Can I add my own choice of car/vehicle in place of the one it has.

I need it for my layout I am working on so I will be uploading the layout onto the download station when completed.

I have emailed the author Mathjag but have not had any response. The licence in the config file says "Free for non commercial use."

I would not be reskining or anything like that just either removing the car or adding another vehicle in its place

Any help on this matter would be very much appriciated.

Thanks Kevin

You can modify any asset as long as it's not locked for your own use as you know. If you want to upload your modified asset, you need permission to do so from the asset-creator. There are two parts to this. The license should be there and will say whether the asset can be modified or not and shared. If there is no license, this doesn't mean you can just upload the asset without permission. You still need to contact the author. The contact information should contain an email address and sometimes there's a website. No contact information means you can't upload it.

Now, if it's a case of "Sure go a head and modify and upload it if you want", it's common courtesy to include a thank you in the description to give credit to the original author. I would do this even if the license says you can upload the asset.

This is how I remember how things go. License enforcement is pretty strong here. FYI.

Hi John and thank you for your reply.

I have emailed the author direct but have had no reply yet (4 days past). The last time he updated on the Trainz site was 11th June 2020.

I will just have to hang fire on using that recovery truck until I get a reply.

Hope you keeping well and speak soon

Thanks Kevin

I checked the config file.
license = "Free for non commercial use."
But that doesn't address modifying it and uploading it as your asset.
