Reflections on water--- but. . .

Product loads do not show reflections. I.E. loads on flatcars, Intermodal loads, Bulkhead loads, etc. They do not have reflections on the water.

Also, when I'm in the cab and look out the window, the locomotive I am in has no shadow. I can see the shadows of the trailing loco and rolling stock, but not the shadow of the locomotive I happen to be running.

Hi Dave - What you see depends on the visual quality settings you've set for Shadows and Water Quality.
Here are mine and this is the result in terms of reflections/ shadows:

I concur that, in cab view, I cannot see the locomotive's shadow either, whilst the shadows for the consist behind the drawbar are well-defined !
The loco's shadow is clearly visible and well-defined from any external view.
Have to say I haven't noticed this until you pointed it out. Will test in T:ANE next to see if the same holds true there...

Edit Update: Confirmed in T:ANE Build 97285 too - No loco shadows visible in Driver mode cab view.
If you have multiple power units pulling your train, then shadows do appear for all following assistant locomotives - just not for the one you're driving!

What are your Trainz settings defaults that result in you not seeing loco shadows from the cab? Note that the flatcar loads are clearly reflected in the water below both bridges...

Shadows must be on Ultra for water reflections to appear for loads.

EDIT: Meant WATER not Shadows. Brain and Fingers do not connect.

Kilrbe3 - No - it is the Water that must be on 'Ultra', not Shadows. You can see almost exactly the same scene as depicted above with Shadows set to 'High' (and not Ultra) as long as Water is set to 'Ultra'.
Turn Water down to 'High' and the consist load reflections disappear.

Here's what N3V says about the performance impact of Water settings options:

[h=3]Water Quality[/h]
Low means basic shader only (no reflections) and is not performance intensive.High provides a reflection of the entire scene, skipping a few items which aren't likely to be visible in the water reflection. This is expensive.Ultra is similar to High setting, but not skipping many items. This is a little more expensive.

As it happens, 'Ultra' quality Water settings are much less taxing on framerates as Shadows on 'Ultra', so I often set Shadows to the 'High' setting, whilst always maintaining Water on 'Ultra'.

I'm not sure why I typed Shadows earlier today, when I meant Water. Read your post and tested myself earlier today, in my head I said Water.. my fingers typed Shadows. That's my b.

Heh! Happens to me too. Thought that might be the case, so I embarked on a little testing session of my own to ensure that I was indeed correct in correcting you! :hehe:
