Railway Simulator

Hello Jay1990

As already mentioned, If your into British routes and stuff, buy the Settle & Carlisle add-on as your first add-on for this program! A lot of the good British routes use items from this add-on, and also you do get a lot of extra stuff. Also, check out once you have the add-on this page for extra stuff: http://www.settleandcarlisle.co.uk/index.html

For more payware stuff try: http://brtrainz.co.uk/ or http://darlington-works.weebly.com/index.html or http://gplocomotives.com/blogweb/index.php or http://www.paulztrainz.myenet.info/

For free trains, I will let others give you names. There's loads and loads of top stuff out there.

One tip for you, when you download routes or trains, and you get missing items, copy the kuid item number (use content manager, and right click the picture that shows a jigsaw piece with a ?) and do a google search.

Just make sure that your anti-virus is up to date first as some sites may contain nasty's (a search on this forum may give you some good sites to visit or mention where to find the missing item).

Good luck and hope you enjoy your new hobby!

Regards.

Thank you CaptEngland. Right now, I am still trying to work this Download Centre out. I have just purchased a First Class Ticket and activated it. Says that it will download faster, I don't see a difference. I'm getting 1.89KBPS to 16KBPS yet last night when I didn't have one I was getting over 2MB per second. Our internet has been playing up a lot recently, but I would of thought I'd of seen an improvement not a downgrade in my download speed. I've already had to install the game twice, which I'm not exactly happy about. Anything I download shows up with a red highlight and wont let me use it. I wish I could find away to delete some content as some of it just doesn't catch my interest and the names aren't exactly easy to work out. I'll get there eventually.

Right now, I am trying to download some locos and rolling stock, as well as a map I was suggested and I've had it on download since 11am today, it is now 20:28 and still got no where. Shame really, I need to sort my internet out I know that much. I have managed to figure the online download centre page to show images. Which I was rather impressed with lol.

If you've bought and activated a FCT, clear out the Download Helper list in Content Manager.

Regarding red highlighted items, this seems to be cropping up quite a bit - hover over the offending items to find out the reason.

Shane

P.S. I have a guide on downloading using Content Manager in the DLS,FCT forum.

I found this set of guides very useful.

As somebody else said If you are trying to understand route building you may find it more rewarding to modify an existing route by adding say a branch line to it.

I have to agree with CaptainEngland once you get used to the basics the Settle & Carlistle route is a must have. The range of free extras available with this route is unbelievable and fortunately the SnC team are just about to release a new midlands route.

Just take it slowly, Trainz can become an obsession.

Sometimes it can take 24 hrs before the FCT is fully activated. I have a slow Internet connection but this is still 170kbps which is 30 times faster than the non FCT speed.
