Railwaves HST pack.

I have a few of the Railwaves products and really like them. I know nexusdj and jn114 were working on a new HST set, but I was thinking of buying the HST pack from Railwaves and I'm wondering if anyone has useful comments to offer before I commit to buying? I'm sure Airtime mentioned them at some point in the past but I can't find the post.

Thanks.

Hi pfx,

Yes your right I'm always promoting the Railwaves stock, the HST sets from Railwaves work fine in Trainz Classics UK, Trainz 2009 and Trainz 2010 compatibility and Native mode (there is an issue when in driving mode, that the front and rear lights show up in the direction of travel), other than that they work fine, they have cab views front and rear, but unfortunatly no passenger views which would have been a nice touch if that was added, unfortunatly the coaches don't light up at night, unlike the Voyagers which do.

Here is what you get with the HST Railwaves pack...

All Mk3 carriages are passenger industry compatible with animated doors and functioning door lights.

There is a seperate pack you can add on - it's called the First Great Western Pack and includes the following...

These also include animated doors and working side lights, they also come with a selection of First Great Western stations including Cholsey, Reading and Didcot along with Didcot engine sheds.

As for Nexusdj and JN114 building a new HST set, yes you are right and JN114 is working on the new set as we speak, Nexusdj will be reskinning them in various livery's in the near future and may be placed on the DLS very soon, from what I've seen already, they look amazing. So it's up to you what you decide, you can either wait for the HST sets to be built, or you can buy the Railwaves ones straight away from this site... http://www.railwaves.com/

Hope this helps

In an email from them yesterday relating to a problem regarding Turbostars in 2009, they said they are going to be making their content TS2010 compliant, but it will not be straight away - I would advise keeping an eye on the relevant product pages for more information.

EDIT: The actual wording is ' The aim is to bring all products up to 2010 standard, but that won't happen straight away'

I'm running the Railwaves HSTs in 2010 Native mode with no problems. The only issue is that the red lights as well as the white lights are lit on the front of the train but it is only noticable if you are looking for it.

Cheers

Paul

I've got it, but it's disappointing that it was never issued in the original blue and grey. The Mk3s also have buffers which are appropriate for loco hauled stock but not HSTs.

I'm looking forward to the JN114 version. :D

Hi Paul
Interesting, all the Railwaves HST stock comes up as faulty in my installation
which is ts2009+S&C+ts2010+SPs 1&2. What is your installation, and have you modified or repaired the stock in any way?

DaveW

I am also running Snowsignal's HST set in TRS2010 native mode. As stated the only issue is the red marker lights staying on in front Motor car together with the headlights. As for the voyager, I fixed a couple of bugs in the config tables of the carriages. (the Motors were fine) The Voyager and HST look and sound great in native mode.

Is there any update on the JN114 HST? It must be months since I first saw mention of that.

Hi all

Well yesterday I made a mistake. I re-bought Turbostar thinking it would be now compatible with 2010. I had tried the demo signal pack and they worked fine. However with the Turbostar I get the following error: -

Error: Texture 'turbo170_central_body/glass.texture' is missing or could not be loaded for mesh 'turbo170_central_body\doortimer.im'.

So looks like I wasted my money. I have emailed them about the issue but no-one has got back to me as yet.

The lesson, make sure that they say it is 2010 compatible. 2009 compatability is not sufficient. For the record, I am running 2010 with S & C and SP2.

Everything I stated in my first post, is correct, I have them running in compatibility mode at the moment, because other content from the DLS hasn't been upgraded to work in Trainz 2010 Native Mode yet.

As for what it says on the Railwaves website, don't believe all of it, Both Virgin Voyagers work in Native Mode in Trainz 2010 along with the HST Sets which I have also ran in Trainz 2010 Native mode Error free.

Here is an example...

p_lineup_class_90_01.jpg

It claims on the Railwaves website that these work in Trainz Classics UK, these do not show up at all in Trainz Classics UK at all, and neither does the catenary, this is due to Trainz Classics UK being set in time before electrification, I have tried many times to get these working in Trainz Classics UK but failed, That's why I bought Trainz 2010, I've found these work in Trainz 2010 Compatibility mode and Native Mode error free.

The only items that do show errors in Trainz 2010 and show up in RED are the Turbostars and the Electrostars, they work without fault in Trainz 2009/2010 Compatibility Mode, but they don't appear up in Trainz 2009/2010 Native Mode.

I have contacted Railwaves about the light fix and also about re-coloring the Virgin Voyager into Arriva Cross Country livery, I will let you know the responce.

Hope this helps

Joe Airtime

I will post back here and give a list of what works in Trainz 2010 Native Mode soon, I do know for sure, both Virgin Voyagers and the HST sets work in Trainz 2010 Native Mode - Error free.

I totally agree with you in all you say, the Railwaves HST's in blue and grey would have looked superb, shame it wasn't made, as for the JN114 HST, I am also looking forward to this addition to Trainz 2010.

Don't give up, they usually take a day or two to respond to e-mails.

I have done the Railwaves test in Trainz 2010 Native Mode, most products will work error free in some TS2010 installations in Native Mode, if the product you want is not listed below, it means it may work in Trainz 2010 native Mode - Error Free.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The following are the products that did not work in Trainz 2010 Native Mode...

Any products above in Red, did not show up in Native Mode and they also showed up in Red in the surveyor engine list, these show up with errors and they DO NOT WORK in Trainz 2010 Native Mode.

As for all other Railwaves stock on the website they all work error free in Trainz 2010 Native Mode.

Hi paulkay21

Thanks for your reply. The type of errors I am getting are :-

Error: Unable to load primary texture 'mk3_so_virgin_body/door.tga' for texture file 'mk3_so_virgin_body/door.texture.txt'.
Error: Binary conversion failed for texture resource 'mk3_so_virgin_body/door.texture.txt'.
Error: Unable to load source texture 'hash-80\copytempsrcpjm3xyyq33\class43_exec_body\43virgin_tex.convert-tex' in subst 'local'

I have Run PEV's tools on these, rebuilt Database etc.

Hi Joe Airtime

Thanks for your analytical investigations.
I would not recommend anyone to purchase Railwaves HST packs and expect them to work in TS2010 native mode, perhaps you should modify your statement to "works in some TS2010 installations".
I purchased the HST's in 2005 perhaps you have later versions.
Looking for answers  .

Hi Yorkshire

I have the same problems with the Turbostars, I hope Railwaves bring out a fix.

All my Railwaves packs work in TS2010 compatability mode.

DaveW:)

In relation to the turbostars, I have emailed Railwaves, and they are looking into it. I would advise anyone with the same kind of problem to also email them describing the problem (we may get a fix sooner)

In relation to the head and tail lights being on at the front of the train, this is a known issue (according to Railwaves) and they are working on it (might be worth emailing them to see if a fix has been released for it)

And no, I do not work for Railwaves, but I have purchased some of their content and had similar problems. (I think the texture problem affects a lot of content - it's due to a change in TS2009 and TS2010 where a lack of source textures causes errors (and reports the content as faulty) - the original GMAX/3DSMax (or equivalent) files may be required to fix it. (According to someone else on this forum - I cannot remember which thread it was on though)
