Railroad science trivia question (which some here MIGHT find useless).

Which is the FRONT of the train station and which is the BACK?

One one side of my station buildings are platforms with tracks for people to board the trains.

On the other side of the same buildings are the parking lots and entrances from the street.

Is the street side or the track side the front or back of a train station?

If you consider this question purely from the effort and expense that went into designing and constructing the grand old terminal and mainline stations upto the 1950s (and in some cases, beyond) then the "street side" of a station is the front and the "track side" is the back. The most common impressions or memories that people have of these stations is the approach, from the street, and the concourse (interior). The platforms themselves were often an "after thought".
