if this question is alloud, the answer is
the railroad was built as a 3ft railroad
the narrow gauge portion of the line was abandoned in 1950
however the sg portion still remains

do i get to add a question?

Wrong sir. Originally is the key word there.

It was orignally going to be built as a Southern Broad Gauge line; after the civil war, the line went bankrupt, and sold on acution at the cort house. Union investors bought the defunct RR, and began to rebuild it, to three foot gauge

Oh and btw, the SG portion is now gone too. They abandoned it in 2009 I think. Sad day for the Tweetise family.
