radio chatter

after downloading the radio chatter files from the download station where and how do you activate, place and play them

It depends....

What kind of asset is it? (You can tell by looking at its type in Content Manager.

If it's a track object, like a signal or switch stand, you place it on the track in various place. When the train drives over it, the radio chatter is played. If it's a scenery object, you place it as you would a tree, house, or some other similar object. The radio traffic is played randomly without any kind of trigger to it to cause the sound to be played.

This is a script. This means it's attached to a trigger or some object.

I haven't used this kind of thing in ages so I can't remember how it's applied to a trigger. I think you place the trigger and modify the properties. Don't quote me directly on this process, because I really can't remember the details. Others will wander by and be able to help I'm sure.

In "Session" go to "Edit Session Rules". Then "Driver Setup". Pick a "Driver" and click: ">>". In the Menu, click "Play Radio Chatter" and another menu will open to the right. Click desired chatter. It will play the "Chatter" chosen as the very first command, or in the mist of other commands you choose. You can place as many different ones as you want for that particular driver, or for other drivers as well. (For example: "Wait for 1 minute"... "Wait for 30 seconds" ... "Hornz" ... "Wait for 5 seconds" ... then "Play sound file CSX Central Ohio 01" [this is part of the "Chatter" command] ... ect.).

There's also another separate Rule you might want to try called "Play Sound File" which has the following two sound files: "2Toot" and "All_Aboard". Of course this is great for your passenger activity.

With both of these Rules ("Play Radio Chatter" and "Play Sound File"), engaged for different drivers within the same Session; it does not matter if you're doing freight or passenger activity; you will hear both! While "riding" in a passenger train, freight chatter might be welcome; but this doesn't hold true when running freight!!! Be ready to be occasionally startled by a loud "All Aboard" from time to time! :hehe: One logical way of course is to make two separate Sessions: one freight, and the other passenger. (Unlike most men's wives) my wife actually enjoys my Trainz endeavors and creativity... yes really; and enjoys an occasional "ride" in a given passenger car! :D However, when the "freight chatter" is engage by Trainz "Rules" this annoys my wife to no end; simply because I've never bothered to separate the sound commands into two separate (passenger and freight), Sessions -LOL!!! Always had placed it on the backburner! :D

-Enjoy!!!

The bird and water sounds are usually in the form of a yellow square post that you place in Surveyor.
Cheers,
Mike

The problem with the play sound file is that it can be heard all over the layout, so that all aboard would be heard while you are sitting in a carriage doing 100mph.

Yeah, I mentioned that in my post above, but... uh, in so-o many words that night :hehe: Also vice versa: "Play Radio Chatter" (freight), can be heard in a passenger car doing 110 mph "all over the layout" such as the weather just happens to be the same in New York, as it is in New Jersey, and Delaware... or Chicago [if you've endeavored to create such an expanse] all the time... what you don't believe me!? Click a "Bookmark" and find out -LMAO!!! :D
