Quick Portal Manager V3

Pioneer Valley RR
I am running T12 with SP2 HF2 and the Iportal (between routes) has been crippled for me. However, I have used Quick portal Manager v3 with success. I don't remember, and cannot duplicate how I set the input/output Queues, getting old and don't remember things;

Route 1 BNSF Lakewood Sub
2 portals:
Lakewood West
Lakewood East

Route2 BNSF Bethany Sub
2 portals
Bethany East
Bethany West

I want to send a train from route1 Lakewood West portal to route2 Bethany East portal.
I am not understanding, getting confused when I enter the portal names

Portal Selected __________________ is this the Portal on route 1, Lakewood West

Portal output queue______________ what portal name goes here?

Portal input queue_______________ what portal names goes here?

Thanks,

John

Hi John - According to notes I got from Lots_Trains, a train leaving a map goes to the Output queue and a train arriving at a map comes in on the Input queue.

So it ought to be:

Map 1 Output queue Lakewood West

Map 2 Input queue Bethany East.

As far a I understand, the other two queues can stay blank.

If that doesn't work I can ask Lots to help.

Cheers - Trevor

I will give this a try the first tomorrow morning.

Hey there Trev

Should be

Map 1 output queue Lakewood West

Map 2 input queue Lakewood West

Effectively whats happening is the trains are been stored in the output queue leaving the map (and are written into a file), then the portal in the new map is reading the queue to put the trains on to the new map.

Also pay to check the QP Manger settings as it will save the queues on a saved game or on the fly whichever is set

Cheers

Hello,

I've been using QPM v3 quite a bit. I have noticed one quirk. You can set the input queue on map 2 to Lakewood west, but the first time you look for a train that the other portal sent you will not find it. Instead, use the ... to get a drop-down list of the active queues and select Lakewood West from there. In a few moments the train will appear in the list. Note that you must send a train out the other portal first.

This all may seem complex at first but once you do it a few times it will be second nature.

Good luck,
Kevin

Still can't get the grasp of this; I sent 2 engines via the below portal, Medford First Sub to Cloverfied North which is a different route.

This is the receiving route Portal Cloverfield North:

It looks as if the 2 engines made Cloverfield North. How can I get the Portal to emit the train, clicking on the emit train icon does not work.

Thanks for hanging in there with me.

Hi,

At medford, the sending portal, you called the output link "Cloverfield North". Thus, at the receiving portal, it's INPUT link must be this same name. Select it from the ... dropdown list. On your screenie the OUTPUT link is Cloverfield. You need it to be the input link.

Instead of giving your links the same name as the portal, give them a name such as "Cloverfield to Medford". That will make it clearer what each link is doing and if it needs to be input or output.

Good luck,
Kevin

John,

I have seen occasional glitches, and I think I remember some trouble with certain locos, but I don't remember if it was in QPM. Mostle I will have a problem where I send a train, and it just never makes it into the queue. I always save sessions as I go, so I just revert, run the train through again, and it is usually there the second try. I also have just had some loads changed going through the portal recently. There was one kind of bulkhead car that would always have its loads stripped.

I suggest to hit the "clear queue and forget history" button in the sending portal and try again. The problem may not repeat. If so try different locos.
