Questions.. Help Please 2010 AI Issues!

Inn

Mr.Inn
My AI keeps going 40 MPH went the speed is set to 80MPH (I'm using searchlight signals...) The problem is normally it will go half the speed when it is given a "yellow" signal but all my trains are given Green or Clear Signals, I am 100% sure of this.

Any suggestions to help? Using 2010..

Do you have more than one signal, the AI won't run track speed unless there are at least three signals on a line I believe...

Do you have any slower speeds further up the line, or perhaps switches that need setting?

This will cause the AI drivers to run slower because they read ahead to the slower track sections even if you have in between green signals.

It's a Commuter Rail route so I have about 100+ Signals.. It's formatted correctly.. don't need to worry about the switch! My line is 80 for the main and 40 around the terminal and 40 around the grade crossings, However, it should be about 80 for most the route and trains travel a max of like 47 MPH.. killing my whole idea of AI running trains lol

Have a look at the post I started yesterday "AI trains disregarding speed limit" I have a similar type of problem exept that in some parts of the modified layout I,m working on the AI behaves itself and in others This problem you are experiencing occurs. Having read the comments in this post I have concluded it is more likely to be a speed limit sign problem. I woiuld suggest you add more 80,s so that when you pass an 80 speed limit sign there are one or 2 duplicates further down the track. I think I,ll try that as well. This layout is also on 2010 and I did not encounter this problem on 2009.

I've done this with better results. I noticed I never had this problem before, but it shows up only in 2010 and TS12. It's like the AI are more cautious.

What kind of in between signals are you using? I have used regular, type 6 and type 2 with no effect as well as permissive signals such as type 5 and type 3. The results are the same.

I also noticed that it depends upon the consist. If I use older Auran locomotives and cars, the trains run at the correct speed all the time. If I use newer equipment, the trains will run in spurts up to the proper speed, then slow down more often. AI changes and engine scripting differences, perhaps?

Update. In my post Baz said the AI anticipates the speed limit up to 3 signals away. I,m going to test that theory as well and maybe try different locomotives. The loco I,m using for my layout is a green class 47 D166? which I downloaded from the DLS. I,m using UK 3 aspect signals

could be a signal problem,, how far are your signal apart,,, i have my about a mile a part

After running tests on my modified Port Ogden layout where I start at 30 mph. then 60 then 30 The only way I could get the AI to travel at 60 was to change the 2nd 30mph limit to 60. otherwise it ran at 31 mph. Interestingly when I changed the 2nd 30 to 40mph the AI ran at 41mph in the 60 limit. I added more 60 signs then I tried more sgnals none of which made any difference. So I conclude that the AI is reacting to the 30 mph and not the 60 for some unknown reason. What to try next?????? I,m going to try instructing the AI to navigate both to and via a track marker I have placed in front of the 30 sign. The other thing I can experiment with is to add another speed sign before the 60, say a 50, and see if that has any effect. Moving the 60 sign is another option (more in hope than expectation, LOL) Incidently I also used a yellow wrap around ended class 37 which I think goes back to Trainz 2004. Again, all signals were "green" for testing purposes. Watch this space!

i noticed the same on my route yesterday. i have no signals (prototypical doesnt have them) and no speed signs yet. i sent an n&w J to load at Elbe then to tacoma. The limit was 40mph and my train was going 22mph. the other n&w J on my route was going line speed of 40mph though. i thought it was a problem with just me, but apparently its not. i am using ts2010 build 44088

I believe it also has to do with the fact that if the next signal after that is red they will go slow. I have noticed that if a lot of the signals are green the al usually work fine.

This is the crap that I hate, in 2006, It worked PERFECTLY! Why now in 2010 does it freaking fail? - So stupid man, Auran you need to seriously learn how to run a company because you bugg the heck out of me. I love that saving is now an issue in 2010 compared to 2006 - I don't get it!

Like i'm going to give you guys a hint.. (TAKE notes from the company Blizzard)

You make a game (aka Trainz 2004) - you then ADD ALL THE FEATURES from 2004 but IMPROVE it in 2006.. - THEN TAKE ALL THE FEATURES from 2004/2006 and IMPROVE it in 2010.. - Now you take ALL THE FEATURES from 2004/2006/2010 and Improve it to Train 12.. You guys fail but we keep just spending money.. Trainz 2012 isn't even worth the money because the multiplayer idea isn't even worth it "as of this moment"

Learn from Blizzard (They make some great games) and you might be a good company and not have people annoyed with you 24/7..

Zec, You know I love yeah but seriously lol err I'm going to the pub

The trackmark idea doesn,t solve the problem. It is definitely a bug which makes the AI read the 2nd 30 mph too early. The only options to increase the speed of the train are changing the 1st or 2nd 30 pmh speed limits. For instance changing the first 30 speed limit to 50 increased the speed from 31 to 45 mph in the 60 area and changing the 2nd 30 speed limit to 40 mph increasd the speed to 41mph. Not very helpful but thats about the only solution apart from a patch. Again the tests were done under green signals
