Question on coupling

I apologize if this is already answered here. All my searches shed no light on it.

I am using the Couple at Track Mark command, and it works fine. But I want to have the train drop those cars of, go pick up others, then couple the new ones with those just dropped off.

I've been able to do everything except get it to couple the two groups of cars together. It tries to take a route around the recently dropped off cars rather than approaching them and combining everything.

Probably need an additional trackmark - couple at trackmark 8, navigate to trackmark 3, couple at trackmark 7 for example. Give him a destination ahead of him to go to before reversing to pick up the second cut. Even done that way the one time I tried this it got confused and backed into the wrong track every time;

About 1 minute into that the pickup arrives to couple onto the first set, at 2 minutes he backs into the wrong track. Eventually he figures it out and goes onto the correct track, but it wastes a lot of time. For now I've decided that too many switches too close without signals between confuses the AI, they often sit flipping switches almost at random trying to find a path thru a yard ladder, so my later sessions are designed so they pick up and drop off cars on the tracks closest to the mainline.

De Nada. Funny thing, when I first set up the session from that video it went ALL cattywampus, and the first thing I discovered was insert a WAIT. Send an AI train to Navigate to trackmark 8 north, Uncouplez from 4, WHAM instant and rather spectacular pileup since he uncoupled at 40mph! :hehe: So Navigate to trackmark 8 north, WAIT 20 seconds, Uncouplez from 4, that works since he comes to a full stop before uncoupling. Looks more realistic too. :cool:
