Question: If you buy a locomotive, should it appear in the Railyard?

I'm new to Trainz, just starting with Trainz 12. I bought the Age of Modernization loco, and I can place it, but I don't see it in the Railyard. Should I?

Did you commit it in content manager after you downloaded it?

Which build of TS12 are you using? 49922 or 58414 (the SP1 build)?

In 49922 you have to download and install it.
In 58414 you have to go to "get new content" and click on "redownload all purchases".

After this, it should show up in railyard. You will also have 2 new consists listed to easily place them on the tracks.

I bought it after updating to 58414, the SP1 build with the hotfix.I found the two consists and can place them. But I cannot find them in the Railyard. I just reinstalled on a new computer with Windows 8 (Microsoft hates people.) Same thing. I'll loo again. Wasn't sure if they were supposed to appear.

I just placed one in a Quickdrive, and could not make controls appear, and not all keys work, although did in Training.

Update: Worked with Win8, and got things to work, and finally found it in Railyard. No image at first, the it was retrieved.

Win8 seems to dslike typing in th frum sw arg

Sometimes you find it under an abbreviation you do not expect - like PRR in this case, otherwise there is mostly always deps missing or unknown, or an error or two preventing appearance and operation.
