Question about "Windows 7"

ಠ_ಠ....What?
My question is: can i just update XP to Win7 without formatting my drives?:o i know I'm asking to many questions but i want to be safe. DR:o

Um, I'd advise you not to do that. But if you insist, reformat. A clean format is always better than an OS downgrade/upgrade.

Again thank you Trainz community. But i do wish to apologize for flooding this section with questions. Sorry to all if i annoyed anyone. DR:wave:

i did an 'upgrade' from xp to 7. it put the program files folder and the windows folder in a different location and then installed 7.

so it is possible? :o can you delete the old windows files? or can you use to that to an advantage like co-operating Win-7 with XP? Guy25: holey crap. to complex for me. Drrt4: DR:wave:

Yes, you can dual-boot:

An alternative, which I prefer is to temporarily disconnect my current hard drive, get a new one and format it with the new OS. I then reconnect the old drive and have the new drive connected as a spare. Nearly all machines nowadays allow you to select which disk you boot from at startup. You may wish to double-check that your comp has that ability, but its very convenient if you can do it.

i currently have dual boot 7 and XP.

when i installed win7 on my media machine it took care of the old XP installation by itself. the install just copied the xp files to windows.old directory. there is no true upgrade option though.
