Question about TRS 2009 editions.

Hey all,

I have a few questions about TRS 2009, and I'm not sure if they've been answered already or not.

1. What is the difference between TRS 2009 World Builder Edition and TRS 2009 Engineer Edition?

2. I'm assuming this is true, but can all TRS 2004, 2006, and TC stuff be used in TRS 2009? Just asking as I have like 5 gigabytes worth of TRS 2006 stuff downloaded. Plus some pretty great TRS 2006 content, and some TRS 2004 and earlier. I'd love these content to be used in TRS 2009.

3. I was wondering, will TRS 2009 World Builder Edition be released in December (full version) and the Engineer Edition in December as well? Or is Enginner Edition an expansion pack?

I'd like to know so I can buy the right Trainz simulator.

How's this for a prompt response :)
Go to www.ts2009.com/wb.php and www.ts2009.com/en.php for more details.

99% of old content will work fine. There are some things that will work differently such as engine specs, but by release we will have a foolproof system to ensure your locos behave correctly.

Engineers Edition (TEE) is an "expandalone". If you have WBE installed, it will install on top so that you get all the WBE features plus the new EE features and content. If you don't have WBE then EE is a standalone verion of Trainz that doesn't include the Surveyor module.

I haven't participated in the beta process, so perhaps someone who has can give you more indepth answers, but...

1. Engineer Edition is essentially a fancy "Trainz Driver", and will come with a load of new content not available elsewhere. It does not contain Surveyor and can not be used to build routes. World Builder Edition is the full deal, much in the same vein as TRS2004 & TRS2006.

2. Your assumption is correct, as 2009 should be just as backwards compatable as previous versions, although I'm sure there are certain items that won't work as they should.

3. Engineer Edition is coming out later, to allow creators time to make new content that is up to 2009 specs. I'm not sure of the exact date. However, it's my understanding that both editions are stand-alone, so you don't need one to use the other.

Hope that helps,
Patrick

99% of old content will work fine? A foolproof system? Sounds too good to be true, mate. So it probably isn't...;)
What's the in point in Ahsan parroting Big Tony word for word or is he the same person in Scotland and Argentina?

My 04 content actually works better in 09. Spent a few hours last night working and playing around with my 04 MVR route. Some of the issues it used to have (would lag and sputter in a certain spot) are now gone.
I used to be a pretty vocal critic of 04, and 09 seems to be a much better sim. :Y:

All of my content I made for 04 works perfectly as well
