Question About Engine Sounds

What type of sound files are able to be used in engine sounds? Does trainz specifically call for a certain type of sound, meaning mono or stereo, 32-bit or 16-bit?

From memory it's a mono wave sound (possibly 16-bit as well).

Easiest thing to do would to (download Audacity), open it, select 'Stereo Track to Mono', and export as file format 'other uncompressed files'.

Thank you guys, I saved it as a 16 bit mono and it worked.
