Quality locomotives for TRS2006

I've downloaded quite a few locos from the DLS all but to delete them right back off the game because they don't funtion as I would like them too/think they should. What I'm looking for is locos with good looking paint jobs, realistic engine physics, breaking physics, able to do cab view (have downloaded some that don't let you). One feature I find most valuable that a lot of creaters don't do or can't figure out how to do is incremental breaking. And of course another feature I like is numbering the locos. Is there any locos on the DLS that have all of these qualities? Is there a tutorial someplace that will guide me in how to properly edit the locos so they function with all the features I mentioned above? Once I tried to clone the BNSF SD40-2 engine in the game cause I wanted to give it a different engine and horn sound but once I Commet, I could no longer number it.

So basically what I'm asking is where can I find some quality full functioning loco for DL, or what is the proper way to edit them so they work with all the features I like??

Thanks

Well you could start off rummaging around a bit in the Freeware/Payware sections of this forum. I am pretty sure you'd encounter names like Sporbust/VirtualMotiveDivision/TrainzProRoutes and the likes...;)

The best locos I have are the ones I bought for $10. Not a bad price when you realize that you can have unlimited locos of that type and road, and can change running numbers.

Best locomotives I've ever had in '04 and '06 are Pc Railway's M and MA class locomotives from Tasmania...

Payware...

Worth every cent... Not sure if you can still buy them or not seeing as as far as I can tell, the site hasn't been touched in a while

It reads to me as if the OP is going to have to purchase payware, or create locomotives himself, to satisfy the parameters of his requirements.

I'm more than happy to pay or create my own. So the two questions that arise from your responce is where can I purchase, and if I choose to make my own, are there any tutorials out there that will help me?

Thanks

Basically the loco is a mesh and a config.txt file. The physics, braking etc is all configured in the config.txt file so by playing with the numbers you can make any loco do practically anything. Have a read of the content creator's guide for TC3 it will describe just how the engine specs etc all work.

For changing numbers this is fairly easy even if the original doesn't allow it. Create a second mesh in Blender that has two planes with the numbers you want. Position them about 5 mm above the existing number and reference them in the config.txt file.

I think there is a mention in the wikibook Trainz about using a second mesh.

Some payware locos have this sort of thing others are more basic to the point that the wheels don't even rotate so don't assume becouse its free on the DLS it must be worse than payware.

Also worldoftrainz.com has great locomotives too. I got all my CSX locomotives from there and I don't regret anything...
