Won't work because the data needs to be entered into the config.txt file and that can't be done from a GUI, or so I've been told.
I'm in agreement with you, Dave. I was just suppling the long version of GUI since you asked.![]()
I've given the subject a fair amount of thought and I don't really see a way of doing it better than you are now. At least until Auran provides a API for external programs I think you are doing it the best way.

I tried to add a boxcar for one of the HS BX 120 that's at Hither Freight House. I used Burlington Northern, since you already got one of them in the yard, so I knew the scrip had to be good. But it didn't show up, I did count down where Hither "Freight is, which by my count was 17, so I replace the Kuid that was 17 down in the other list for the Kuid for the Burlington Northern, but it didn't show up. I think I will do my own layout, once I am at least finish with the tracks and sidings.
Thanks for the vote of confidence. I am a novice programmer and this is my first project. I'd like to adapt a series of routes (with the creators permission of course). My only criteria is the route must be able to support realistic prototype operations. Do you have any suggestions for appropriate routes to adapt?
David
The routes I "operate" on the most are by Leeferr, Pgibbons and the Murchison 2 by Sirgibby. I really like the Roscoe, Snyder, & Pacifc Railroad from Trainzproroutes.org. It seems like a good candidate as is Pro Rail TRS 2004 on the DLS.
William
Just open the route in Surveyor and place the Burlington car at the freighthouse. You can also place other cars elsewhere and they too will be given a destination when you open the route in driver. Give it a try.
Thanks for the input. I'll be looking at these. I have the Roscoe, Snyder & Pacific but it is missing a bunch of textures and other stuff. I downloaded it 'cause a friend was telling me about this railroad that ran along side her ranch - the RS&P. Guess I'll dust it off and get the missing assets installed.
David
Will give it a try and let you know how it works.
Worked like a charm. I did notice that the seed mill was missing so added one, and there was no Tipps Iron Works, was not even on the map, so added a spur and Iron Works building.
Now I got to tackle the 2 inbound trains and NY interchange, to see what I got to change to get them to work.
But making up the 3 trains in the yard was great fun. This was what I was hoping from Trainz. Something that would cheaply fill my modle railroader needs. Since the real thing has been price out of my range for years. $500 for a single loco, damn that use to be able to pay for a full layout for a 4x8 playwood.
Let me know which ones you are missing, I think I have everything or at least it looks complete. TRS04 complains about something at startup but I don't know what it is. I think some of the textures that TPR used don't work in TS2009 for some reason. I guess I should see why.

The building I used for the Tipps Iron works is Austin Factory 1, which is in fact, a model of Tipps Iron Works here in Austin. It is visible from the AMtrack platform, just west of down town. I haven't been down there in a while, but I assume it is still standing.
I gotta figure out how to package a route so it has all the items included. I just don't want to be accused of modifying and distributing others work, but some assets need to have corrections made in the config.txt files. If I add a catagory class or correct it to agree with the type of vehicle and then include that modified file in a route, am I violating any protocol that applies to modifying other's work? I have seen several threads on this and am not sure what is and is not acceptable.
Glad you are enjoying the CMTM System. I have some enhancements I am working on. Currently, every freight car placed on teh route in Surveyor is assigned a destination off route on start-up. I am considereing adding a "Local" track in the yard. Any cars on that track at start-up will have a local industry as a destination. Of course, the cars that are placed there in Surveyor will need to be properly selected as cars that are needed by local industries as detailed in the string-table database. Depending on the route, this string of cars may need to be classified or, if it is a small route, put on an engine and caboose and make the local run. This should give more flexibility in designing operations for a route.
David
Well the building didn't show up on the map, also the track in front of where it would be is not labled as anything, so would not keep cars from being put there from incoming trains? . . .
Dave,
What version of Trainz do you work in? Knowing that I can tell you how to assemble the assets.
If you want to distribute someone asset you would need their permission. Given the nature of the project I don't think anyone would refuse. They might even make the changes for you and upload it to the DLS.
William
Hmm.. I think you can clone the asset in CM2 and make the changes to the clone. Then distribute the clones which will have your KUID as .cdp files. Best send a email to the helpdesk to make sure. By the way, have you checked your aol email lately?
William
I find that strange. It was on the far most track in Yon. It had a overhead host and a Multi Industry New track - to load those big creates of machinery.
