Sounds interesting enough, maybe a screenshot or two? I mean it is in screenshots after all. 
What you have shown us so far looks pretty good. Hopefully you will get your new PC for Xmas and be able to upgrade your trainz. Have a look on DLS for some HD textures which will suit TS2009, they are usually the ones with the largest file sizes. I'd suggest downloading a few to try out. They really help to make a route look more realistic and don't forget the built in ones as well. They should have 2009 or 09 in the title.

Nice to see you back, and glad your still alive. LOL, we lost enough Trainzers for one reason or another.
Routes take lots of time to build, well the quality ones do, and then there's your personal life with Family, a juggling act for sure, just keep working it when you can, and post those Pics, because I enjoy looking at them!
So I don't know about Sound Files Install, but I did a search in Forum for you, using "install Sound File" keywords for search, here is what I found and I hope it helps.

Read Msg's #5, #6, #7, especially, I think that has the meat of the issue your trying to accomplish. The guy lays it out in well written instructions.

This is not a bug. People complained that the sounds were there so they've been removed. You can't please everyone.

If you want to, you can customize track and add in your track sounds to your heart's content. The information for this is available to everyone via the Trainz Wiki, the link is above if you want to explore more.

This is the nature of Trainz in general. The content and the framework is open, meaning there's a lot that has been done, can be done, and will be done. A lot of what has been done is well beyond what was conceived of when the product was first developed.

To bring up an update on a sort of dead thread, me and Joe have been working together to get some of the routing done. So far what I have done is that I have put in the trackage from N Findlay (I185) to Blake St. (I999). This section is a bit over 100 miles but it does cover how much distance the actual main part of the line is. This section is based off the old MoPac Chicago subdivision and a part of the Joppa/Marion Sub. For the St. Louis part, there would be access via points west at Salem (Tonti) via B&O Illinois Subdivision (fictionally Southern Illinois Raolroad's Illinois sub). Trains off the I&S for STL or SIR trains for the I&S at Salem would be coal and intermodal/autorack. Currently the both of us are proposing to get the routes merged in at Blake St in Benton so then we could finally have through running. In other words, the both of us have also agreed on that some of the (abandoned today) coal mines in the Rend Lake area might come into use either for local route coal runs or for power plants anywhere else.
