There was an issue back in an older <I do not remember which> version of Trainz that would crash the program when the trains reached a certain speed - it may even have been 56mph! The cause was a faulty or old audio driver. As
@Driver_Col points out above, Windows Updates do have a record of "updating" 3rd party drivers with their own generic Windows drivers - for example updating a Realtek Audio driver with the Windows "one-size-fits-all" generic audio driver - that can sometimes cause problems. I have experienced this myself.
So while you may have the latest Windows generic audio driver installed it may not be the latest driver from the audio hardware manufacturer.
