Problems Sharing Assets

I have created a one baseboard route with session. It has several portals and 10 industries. I have tweaked all the assets, fixed all the config files that had errors and having it working perfectly on my computer. This route was created in TRS2006, build 3092. I have bundled the assets from this route into CDP's and have sent them to a friend who has just started using TRS 2006, build 3092 on his computer. He had only built-in assets. When he downloaded my CDP's, the assets on which I had made corrections and tweaks show up with the original errors. The portals do not work and one vehicle creates an error screen to appear that does not happen when I run the session on my computer.

Does anyone have a suggestion? What the heck is happening?

Hi,

If you have sent a CDP of an asset to someone who already has that asset installed (e.g. from the DLS) then CMP will I think ignore your CDP, regarding the asset as already installed.

Your friend will have to delete the original asset from his machine first, before loading up the CDP from yourself.

Cheers, John

My friend had only built-in content. When I packaged my assets, I did not package any built-in assets. Everything I sent was new to his system. In the importing process, no items were flagged as already on his computer.

Problem with Sharing

Dap;
If you corrected the dependent assets by editing the original config files and then sent your cdp listing the original assests, then your friend will not receive your corrected ones. Passing a CDP file does not also pass the dependent assets.

Try cloning the bad assets to create a private copy then correct them and edit your route/ session config file to list your private dependedcies AND sent your friend copies of them also. Beware of assets were the author asks that they not be distributed or only thru the DLS.

Hope this does it for you

Thanks for your suggestions.

Part of the problem was that I had installed all the service packs for 2006 and he had none. Assets with minor errors such as inappropriate tags, did not show up as defective on my computer, but his would flag them. Once I fixed all those items on my comuter, everything I sent to him worked fine.
