Problems saving new routes

Can anyone help me please ?
When I wanna save my route he says that the session was saved but he was unable to save it to the Trainz Assets Database, so my route isn't saved.
Who knows how I need to save this or what I am doing wrong?

Hi and welcome to trainz,

First step in the process to getting help: Register your game.
https://www.auran.com/planetauran/SN_Enter_Serialnumber.php
Without having your game registered, most of us wont bother with even considering to help you.

Next step:
Check if you have your version patched to the latest build.

In case of more then 1 version of the game: Tell us which version of the game you are having the problem with.

Gijsen_D,

Welcome to the forums. Please register your copy of Trainz so we know what version you are using as advice can differ from version to version. If you are using Windows Vista or 7 you need to run the game as 'Adminsitrator' to be able to save things properly. The easy way to do this is to right click on the Trainz icon and choose 'Run as Adminstrator'. The best way though is to browse to the folder where your game is installed and look for the 'bin' folder and find every application icon (the *.exe files) and then right click, 'properties', 'compatibility' tab and put a tick in 'Run as Adminsitrator'

Hello Dieter,

I think you have the Railway Simulator powered by Trainz 12 version build 47452 by Just Trains. Is it the boxed or downloaded version? New or 2-hand?
When registering you need to chose the Railway Simulator powered by Trainz 12 version.

Best regards

Hello Dieter,

Ok - first step finished.

Next step - update patches.

You have to go from build 47452 via 48249 to 49222 ( latest build up to now ).

Here is the link -http://trainz.shaneturner.co.uk/tutorials/index.php/patch-links-for-ts2009-ts2010-ts12/ts12 ( Shane Turner's site is a great site - add it to your favorites ).

But first make a backup of your complete railway simulator directory ( or whatever the name is, you have given to it ). Backups are very important, in case something goes wrong.

Then download and install the patches. ( so download the 47452 to 48249 patch - install it ),( afterwards download the 48249 to 49922 patch. - install it )

When this part is done - check if you still have problems saving sessions.

Best regards

You will still need to make sure that you are running the game as Administrator as in my post #3 to make sure that you dont have problems saving

Hello Kurt,

I updated my game patches as you said but I still can't save my routes. He keeps giving the message that he is unable to commit it to the Trainz Assets Database. He also says "this task can be completed in the content manager". Any ad vice left?

Hi Dieter,

Have you tried the advice given by 4ndylloyd?

If the error persists after making sure it's running as administrator, the asset can be manually committed by following this proceedure:

1.Click Content on the Launcher.
2.Click the Open for Edit tab.
3.If the asset is listed, right-click it, select Edit, then select Commit.

Hello Dieter,

Perhaps this thread from 2010 can give you the solution.

Here's the link

Hello Shane,

When I click on Content in the Launcher then gives windows 7 me the warning that Conten Managed doesn't works anymore.
Any advice or do you know this problem?

Thx!

Dieter

That's a very worrying sign. Can you post details of your computer? (and yes, the site that Kurt posted a link to is mine, which also has a Utilities section that may help).

Hello Kurt,

I will check this link tomorrow and see if this can help me a bit, I hope so!
But also when I trie to open the content manager my computer says that the programme doesn't works. Do you know why?

Dieter

Hello Dieter,

Never had this description of a problem before.

However, in the past I had also a problem with content manager and I had to do the following.

Start trainz - and go to options ( second item from the top in the left column ) - in the advanced options - Miscellaneous - I had to uncheck the shadows item.

The shut down trainz - restart it - and click on content.

What is happening?

Best regards

Hmm, don't know if this is the case still, but I remember talk about the CMP not working in the trs2006 days and the verdict was you need a working OpenGL and dotNET framework installation on your system to let it work.

So, are those two available on your laptop? Also go to the bin folder of your trainz installation and run TrainzDiag.exe found there and tell us what errors it shows, if any.

Greetings from rainy Amsterdam,

Jan
