Problems downloading and installing content

I am continually having problems with downloading and installing content from the Download Station into my game Note: running TRS 2004 on Windows Vista OS.

Having contacted Auran technical support, I was told to refer to the forums for support with TRS 2004 which was no longet supported by them.. not helpful.

Once I've logged into Download Station I find the item I want to download. Then I know I have two choices, either to use the Download Helper or to use the FTP link method.

Using the Download Helper gives a "unable to register Trainz helper key", but then does proceed to open the Download Manager, download the content, and then once complete and I close it, I assume it would have installed automatically then when I load the game. It does not.

Using the FTP method also causes problems. The files appear to download, though clearly are not installing.

I do not know how to get content to install and this is very annoying. :(

Install and run Trainz 2004 as an administrator. That will remove the "unable to register" message.

When using FTP to download it is usually in the form of a zip file. Create a new folder on desktop and name it "Today's Downloads" or similar.Make this the default folder for FTP. When downloaded files are in here double click them then follow instructions. You will need to click extract to get them into TRS2004.

I have downloaded a loco from the download station, this downloaded as a .cdp file to my desktop.

I then opened this, and it extracted.

It was unclear whether it had actually extracted fully, the bar loaded quickly and skipped at the end (it loaded a bit, then a bit more, then the window closed - dont know if this means it quickly extracted and then closed, or just exited with some sort of error).

It still hasn't included into the game.

Do I need to place this file in a particular folder or place? Any other actions I can take?

Hi: I too am having the same problem, I can see it in Surveyor, but when I click on it, it doesn't show in the window..I have checked to see if I have all dependices..Far as I can tell I've Got em..There has to be to commit these..

I am also having problems with Content Manager for TRS2006 on Windows XP service pack 3. My problem is that it wont even open up and it shows me a messege report stating that an error occured. i am wondering if i need to use Open Gel software instead of direct X. please advise.

For me the downloaded content does not even show up in surveyor. It just appears possibly to download correctly, but not install. Very frustrating.

When you download an item for TRS2004, note its kuid number.
If the item doesn't show up in the game, delete the TRS2004\Cache\world_cache_dispatcher.chump file and then run TRS2004.
If it still doesn't show up run TO and do the checks there.
If you still have problems, post the kuid number here and we'll try it.

I've reinstalled the program using the vista guide on this forums and now it seems to be working, except for one problem..

.. no content in surveyor mode! :(

The game loads fine, go to surveyor mode and load a new map fine.. but there is no content! Just blank lists and boxes for trains, buildings, .. everything! Very odd.

I've now fixed the problem, by deleting all the chump files and then restarting.

Still having problems getting any downloaded content to install.
