problem with Freeware-the Jupiter train

Well, once again something happened. When I have tried to install the Jupiter train by bdaneal, it doesn't work and there are missing assests/dependencies, and it doesn't work.

To be specific, it's the two actual loco's that don't work. And then there's another that is kinda missing a dependency. The 2 loco's are shown as "Faulty" which i'm not sure of.

I have TS2009. If the Jupiter Freeware was not intended to work with 2009, please let me know and maybe show me some loco's (steam or electric, i don't do diesel) that do work with 2009, i will appreciate it.

What errors do they exactly have, and what is the missing dependance, name and/or kuid

thanks

The KUID is Central Pacific 4-4-0 Jupiter,<kuid:96914:6960>

The error is missing dependencies and such, missing assets, and just faulty.

I don't know what's going on, allow me to see if its just that one or CMP, as I'm going to import another engine.

So, the faulty asset has no errors, but it says its faulty. if this is the case, just go right-click, edit, commit. i will look into the kuid

Everything needed with bdaneals locos are on his site. If you have missing dependencies, use CM to list them and post here and tell you which files have the needed dependencies.

Thanks everyone! I'll get that kuid today!

@rweber, it was just the steam engine itself that was missing the dependency. Nothing else.

@privite, the link you have provided does not work. And the asset I downloaded through a .cdp

That locomotive was made for TRS2004, so the existence of errors in it is not surprising.

Privite's link does not work because it mistakenly contains a period at the end. Try this one: http://steammachine.com/bdaneal/sgdl.htm.

Some of Ben's locomotives require dependencies (such as whistles) from the DLS. If any of the locomotive's dependencies have a little "DS" icon in the View Dependencies (or something like that) dialog, then they are on the DLS, and can thus be obtained there.

I have this locomotive, so I could look it up in TS2010's Content Manager and see what errors it has if it is faulty.

EDIT: I looked it up in CM, and while the Jupiter locomotive asset itself is not faulty, it does have one faulty dependency: inyo_b2 (<kuid:96914:50222>). The error is that the mesh is looking for an "engine_black.texture.txt" file and corresponding texture, but the asset does not have one. This is apparently an invisible bogey, but we still need to pacify CM to get it to work. Just right-click that asset, go Edit -> Edit in Explorer, and create a new text document named engine_black.texture.txt and containing the following text:

Code:
Primary=Black_pixel.bmp
Tile=st

You need to put a small black image file in the asset folder with the engine_black.texture.txt file. Replace the text "Black_pixel.bmp" in the above .texture.txt file code with the actual name of your black image file. The file I used, Black_pixel.bmp, is a small (8 x 8-pixel) pure black image. You should make sure that there is a carriage return/newline at the end of the .texture.txt file, I believe.

That should fix the error in that dependency. Hope this helps. :)

Retro.

Well, even with the tutorial on how to fix the train, it refuses to be fixed. I can not get it to work. Everything should work. Also, I got another 3 also made be bdaneal. They are the three that look old but not extravagant like the Jupiter. Those engines (remember, it's the engines that don't work, not the locomotives) do not work at all.

Do you mean the enginespec is not working? Otherwise, the term engine and loco are the same thing so your statement is hard to understand. Could you post a kuid number of the part that doesn't work?

If it's not open for edit then it is commited. Use CM with the Open for Edit tab selected. If the loco is listed click it to highlight it then press Ctrl M.
